A few notepad tricks.... :D

Here's an amusing one....

1.) Open an empty notepad file
2.) Type "Bush hid the facts" (without the quotes)
3.) Save it as whatever you want.
4.) Close it, and re-open it.

Anyone have a reasonable explanation on why it does this Image

Test your anti-virus

First, open Notepad. Then copy and paste into it the text on the line below. (It should all be on one line.)

X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

Then select File > Save As > then save the file as eicar.com.

Also, try scanning the folder where you saved eicar.com. To see what happens...Image

No clue why it does that. EditPad Lite reads it correct.

The first thing that came to mind was, that it is a easter-egg ... more even when i saw an simular topic, where someone said that if you have a chinese character-set installed, the same (and other, simular, sentences) will read "This is true"
However, it's not an easteregg ... it's a short-coming of Windows itself

It applies to all sentences with a sequence of 4-letter word, 3-letter word, 3-letter word, 5-letter word.
So, the same thing happens, if you enter the sentence " this api can break". I fould several examples on the www.

I found a credable explanation as well.
In short, you can say thet, somehow, with this sequence of words, Windows can't determin wether it's in Unicode or not ... and makes a mess of it

You can find the complete answer on this blog
