Greetings spectrospork242,

While I am still in the process of examining your log, at least do this much while you are waiting for other instructions. I will post back my findings in a short while.

Meantime:
The first thing I noticed about your log is that you are running more than one antivirus scanner. Running multiple antivirus scanners in real time actually reduces your level of protection. You also run the risk of data loss that can occur from a system crash that can result from the instability that it can cause.

Please decide which to keep and uninstall the other.

You also have a tremendous amount of system resources being wasted by the logitech Desktop messenger. Please uninstall the Logitech Desktop manager via add/remove programs as well.

i uninstalled desktop messenger.

and i'm running symantec and avg free edition. i have symantec because it's my corporate supported anti virus software so i'll keep that. i had the other because i don't trust symantec and can't uninstall it.

Your Java application is out of date.
Click start-->control panel-->add/remove programs
Scroll down the list and locate each instance of Java (may be listed as J2SE Runtime Environment). Click Remove. When the uninstallation completes, reboot the computer.

You can download the latest version of Java here.

Did you install this program?:
C:\Program Files\Timbuktu Pro\Tb2Logon.exe

Did you write this script, or at least know what it's for?:
O4 - Global Startup: delaycmd.lnk = C:\Program Files\BRIDGECHK\delay.vbs

Please run HijackThis again and do the following:

check the box next to every one of the "018 entries except for this one:
O18 - Protocol: msnim - {828030A1-22C1-4009-854F-8E305202313F} - "C:\PROGRA~1\MSNMES~1\msgrapp.dll" (file missing)

Reboot the computer and post back a new HijackThis log. Please advise how the computer is running now and if you are having any other issues. Thanks!

Your log looks clean. Not a bad security set up either. Since you are writing scripts and using remote access applications I am assuming you are a little more savvy than the average user. However, since you are still having issues with memory, I have to ask these simple questions:

How much RAM is installed?
When was the last Disk Cleanup and defrag run?
Describe your normal weekly and monthly maintenance routine.
and...what error, warning message, application or log is telling you that your memory is low? How many and what type applications are you running when you get these messages? Can you post the exact error message?

the last defrag i did was last night. i havn't run a disk cleanup in a while, maybe two months. and i have a logitech g15 with an lcd display that displays my cpu and memory useage which is how i know when my mem is maxing out.

there is 1 gb of mem installed, and it's a dell lattitude d800, which is a few years old.

i usually have, aim, windows media player, mgc bridge manager, blackberry desktop app, ars remedy user, somewhere between 2 and 5 ie windows open, microsoft outlook email and calender (using two screens.) those are all running in the foreground with open windows. the apps i have running in the background are, integrity flex personal firewall, microsoft office communicator (kinda like msn), symantec anti virus and logitech mouse and g15 keyboard profilers.

also, when i shut down i get an error message popping up saying ww4win.exe or something like that couldn't load.

As long as you're not getting any runtime error messages or otherwise, I wouldn't be concerned what Logitech's display is telling you.
Below is an excerpt from an article written by Alex Nichol, hosted on this site.

Windows will always try to find some use for all of RAM — even a trivial one. If nothing else it will retain code of programs in RAM after they exit, in case they are needed again. Anything left over will be used to cache further files — just in case they are needed. But these uses will be dropped instantly should some other use come along. Thus there should rarely be any significant amount of RAM ‘free’. That term is a misnomer — it ought to be ‘RAM for which Windows can currently find no possible use’. The adage is: ‘Free RAM is wasted RAM’...

i usually have, aim, windows media player, mgc bridge manager, blackberry desktop app, ars remedy user, somewhere between 2 and 5 ie windows open, microsoft outlook email and calender (using two screens.)

That's quite a bit of resources being used. I would get in the habit of closing applications that you are not currently using. Not only will that free up wasted RAM, it will also speed things up a bit for you.

If usage as you've described is a daily event, perhaps you should run your Disk Cleanup and defrag more often than you do. When you do run a system defrag, ignore the message "you do not need to defrag this volume" and look to the percentage of fragmentation. If it is beyond about 2 or 3 percent, I would run the defrag utility. To get a feel for how often you should run it, just check it every day and look for those percentages. When the percentage of file fragmentation reaches that level then you know how often you should run it.

For now, use these below scripts I've written for you and see if you notice a difference:

Copy the text below, between the lines, to Notepad and save it to your Desktop as "Cleantempfiles.bat" but without those quote marks.
---------------------------------------------------------
del c:\*.tmp
del %temp%\*.tmp /f
del %windir%\prefetch\*.*
del %windir%\temp\*.* /f
del C:\documents and settings\*\local settings\temp\*.* /f
----------------------------------------------------------
Now double click on the .bat file on your Desktop and answer "Yes" to each question to allow the batch to run. When finished the command prompt window will disappear. Reboot at this point and delete the .bat file on your Desktop.

Next, click start-->Choose Run in the Start Menu and type or copy and paste the following in the Run box and press ENTER:
cleanmgr /sageset:1

What you're doing here is setting up a cleaning profile for Disk Cleanup to use later on. When you type the above, a dialog box will appear with a list of junk file types that you can select for removal. You'll notice, you have more options to choose from here than you would if you were to just open up your cleanmgr from the "All Programs-->Accessories-->Tools" menu. Select which options you want to clean up by putting a check mark in each one but Do not put a check in the box for "Compress old files".
- Click OK after making your choices.

Now, copy the text below (between the lines) to Notepad and save it to your Desktop as "CleanUpandDefrag.bat" but again, without those quote marks:
--------------------
@echo off
cleanmgr /sageset:1
cleanmgr /sagerun:1
defrag c:
@exit
--------------------

Now, double click on the .bat file on your Desktop and click "OK".
When the clean up and defrag complete, reboot your computer. You can save that .bat file and double click on it about once a week to run your automated clean up and defrag with one click so-to-speak.

Post back and let us know how the computer is now behaving and if you are still having any more issues.

Thanks!
