Hello, first of all let me apologise for not returning to complete my previous Hijackthis log cure. Unfortunatly I was away from my computer for sometime .

Now my kids have managed to infect my pc again, and I am desperate for help.

My brother has stressed to me that I must follow this thread through to its conclusion. here is the information my brother has managed to discover for me.

I think (as told by the kids) the original problem started when my daughter visited http://www.orange.com and clicked on the games option. A box appeared saying ;Win Antivirus Pro 2006 has detected the 2o7 virus' Daughter panicked and closed it down.

She run ewido scan and adaware, adaware seems to have removed the virus but on bootup I get a message saying,

'SPYWAREGUARD BROWSER PROTECTION ALERT
Warning a BHO has been added
{39ED8754-2C86-464E-87D9-35F2511247E4}
File Location...C:\windows\system32\ssttr.dll
has been detected.

if I click remove the message just reappears until you accept it.

Also my computer seems to be running slower.

Here is my Hijack This log,

When I used VundoFix I couldn't get the 2 files to copy & paste into the List box so I just typed them in. Was that ok?

Also lastnight AVG found the following when I was running A-squared:

'Trojan Horse Dropper.generic.DZD in scarymovie4.exe

Now I have A-squared security appearing on most pages I open.

Also in Zone Alarm I have 2 programs(?) that no one in the house seems to know about, these are:

Zango and Wish Application.

Again many thanks for your help,

Dave

yes, that is ok, and it seemed to do the trick :)

Please print out or copy these instructions/tutorial to Notepad as the internet will not be (while in Safe Mode) available to you at certain points of the removal process. Make sure to work through all the Steps in the exact order in which they are listed below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before moving on with the fixes.

You are running an out-of-date version of Ewido. I'm going to have you uninstall it, and install the latest version.

Please remove these entries from Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

ewido anti-malware
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03
RelevantKnowledge

The following are optional; however, any time your are running any type of P2P application, you are FAR more prone to infection by malware. Your current infections are likely due to P2P use. At the VERY LEAST, please refrain from using any p2p programs while we are cleaning your computer:

LimeWire 4.12.3

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

(an easy way to get to Add or Remove programs is to go to start-->run and type appwiz.cpl)

I did not find any concrete information about Wish Application; however, if no one in your family knows about it, it is probably safe to uninstall.

Zango, Wish Application, and WinAntivirusPro2006 (a rogue anti-spyare scanner - read more here) do not appear to have Uninstall entries. Please go to start-->all programs--> (each of the three programs)

and see if there is an uninstall option. If so, please click it and follow the prompts.

****************************

Please download Ewido to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder.
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
  • Install Ewido by double clicking the installer.
  • Follow the prompts. Make sure that Launch Ewido is checked.
  • On the main screen under Your Computer's security.
    • Click on Change state next to Resident shield. It should now change to inactive.
    • Next to Last Update, click on Update now. (You will need an active internet connection to perform this)
    • Wait until you see the Update succesfull message.
Note: If the Update now option is grayed out, follow the steps below.
      • Click on Update on the toolbar.
      • Under Manual update, click on the Start Update button.
      • Wait until you see the Update succesfull message.
  • Right-click the Ewido Tray Icon and select Exit. Confirm by clicking Yes.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
Ewido manual updates.
Download the Full database to your Desktop or to your usual Download Folder and install it by double clicking the file. Make sure that Ewido is closed before installing the update.

Please copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the following text in the quote to Notepad. Save it as "All Files" and name it FixServices.bat. Please save it on your desktop.

@echo off
sc stop FWSvc
sc delete FWSvc
exit
Double click FixServices.bat. A window will open and close. This is normal.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below (if present).

Hi I managed to do everything ok until I got to start in Safe mode.

I got into safe mode but the taskbar was only partly visible at the bottom of the screen. I tried using the cursor to get it back but it didnt work. I also tried guessing where the start button was and clicking there...this didnt work.

If I right clicked the top of the taskbar which is just visible there is a tick next to lock taskbar and its greyed out.

I tried altering resolution from 800x600 to 1028 (I think) but this did not work either.

The only way I could get back from safe mode was to turn pc off at the on/off button ctrl/alt/del pressed twice did not work.

The list of programes we do not recognise in add/remove is as follows:

Easy Internet sign up
GEAR Software Drivers
e-txt
KBD
MysteryCase Files (remove only)Pop Cap Active X control
Python 2.2 combined W32 extensions
Python 2.2.1
Uninstall CEDP Stealer4 for MSN Messenger 6&7

In Add/Remove the following could not be found:

Zango (also tried searching for this...found nothing)
Wish Application (tried searching nothing found)
WinAntivirus2006 (tried searching...nothing found BUT there is an icon for it in the Control panel).

There is the latest HJT log:

In Add/Remove the following could not be found:

Zango (also tried searching for this...found nothing)
Wish Application (tried searching nothing found)
WinAntivirus2006 (tried searching...nothing found BUT there is an icon for it in the Control panel).

I know there weren't entries in the add/remove programs. I wanted you to see if there was a shortcut to an uninstall file using start-->all programs-->(name of each program).

The list of programes we do not recognise in add/remove is as follows:

Easy Internet sign up
GEAR Software Drivers
e-txt
KBD
MysteryCase Files (remove only)Pop Cap Active X control
Python 2.2 combined W32 extensions
Python 2.2.1
Uninstall CEDP Stealer4 for MSN Messenger 6&7

these programs as all ok, but if you don't use them, you can probably safely uninstall them. except GEAR Software Drivers appears to be for your cd rom, so I wouldn't uninstall that.

********************

Please remove these entries from Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

My EmailEmoticons Toolbar
MyEmoticons

Go to Start > Run and type [b]Services.msc
then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below service:

Firewall service (FWSvc)

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, under the General tab click the Stop button, then click the drop-down box to change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Open HiJackThis, click on None of the above, just start the program. Now, click on the Config button (bottom right), click on Misc Tools, then click on Delete an NT Service. A window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name):

FWSvc

Click OK.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Click YES.

After reboot,

Using Windows Explorer/My Computer, please delete the following folders if still present:

c:\windows\secure32.html << file
c:\windows\system32\feeds << folder
c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\programs\iProtectYou << folder
C:\MyEmoticons\ << folder
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\npclntax.dll << file
C:\Program Files\MyEmoticons\ << folder
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cemetrix.dll << file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\stera.exe << file

Then, Post a new HiJackThis log after it reboots and let me know if you received any error messages.

*also let me know how your computer is running at the moment and if any problems persist.

Hi sorry, I did look in all programs for an install option for Zango:Wish Application and WinAntivirus2006 but could not find any of them (Although an icon for WinAntivirus2006 is still in the control panel.

Using add/remove I've managed to delete
e-txt
KBD
Mystery case Files
Python 2.2 combined W32 extensions
Python 2.2.1
Uninstall CEPD Stealer4 for MSN Messenger 6&7
MyEmoticons

The 2 programs that will not delete are:

Easy Internet Signup
(ZA appears and says 'HP SDP Application Module is trying to access the internet..... Application HPSdpApp.exe, Destination IP 127.0.0.1: port 1056
I've tried denying and allowing it to do this...neither worked)

MY EmailEmoticons Toolbar....(will highlight but not be removed).

Also when I tyed in [b]Services.msc into the run box I got a message saying , Windows cannot find it.

============================================
With regards to how my pc is running now, its still very slow.

when I connect to the net using my 'SpeedTouch Connection', I have now dialup 1-4 options where I used to have just the @Speed Touch broadband' option.

I've left it there until I hear from you if thats ok. many thanks for your help Dave
:)

huh...bad formatting by me. It should have been Services.msc not [b]Services.msc:

*****************************

Go to Start > Run and type Services.msc then hit Ok

Then, Post a new HiJackThis log after it reboots and let me know if you received any error messages.

*also let me know how your computer is running at the moment and if any problems persist.[/quote]

With regards to how pc is behaving, it is still running slowly.
There is still a WinAntivirusPro icon in the Control Panel.

(The path given on the Firewall Service properties page (Local Computer) for WinAntivirusPro (path to executable) was given as
c:\Program Files\WinAntivirusPro2006\FWSvc.exe /service
I tried to find this but the folder was not in Program files.)

I hope this is helpful,
Dave

hmm...i wonder why Winantivirus is being so stubborn...

Please download WinPFind2.
  • Extract the files to a folder(eg: C:\WinPFind2).
  • Double click WinPFind2.exe to start the program.
  • Click the Select All button in the File Options box of the Configuration tab(this is the tab the program opens up to by default).
  • Click the Run all Scans button.
  • When its finished scanning you will see Scans Complete! at the bottom left of the program.
  • Click the Export to Text button.
  • Notepad will open with the results of the scan and the log will be saved to the folder that you extracted the program to(C:\WinPFind2\WinPFind2.txt)
  • Post the log in your next reply please. You may need to split the log over a couple posts so that it doesn't get cut off. If so please use the [Start Post #1] and [Start Post #2] deliminators in the log to split the log up.

one more log request...

Please run a GMER Rootkit scan:

Download GMER's application from here:
http://www.gmer.net/gmer.zip

Unzip it and start the GMER.exe
Click the Rootkit tab and click the Scan button.

Once done, click the Copy button.
This will copy the results to your clipboard.
Paste the results in your next reply.

Warning ! Please, do not select the "Show all" checkbox during the scan.

If you're having problems with running GMER.exe, try it in safe mode.
This tools works in safe mode. Other rootkitrevealers don't.

separate the logs into separate posts so they don't get cut off.

Hi sorry for the delay in answering. The GMER program ends up as 'not responding in both normal and safe mode.

The WinPFind2 program gets as far as 'Run all scans' and also ends up as not responding if just left to run.

been trying both programs all evening.

When booting to safe mode, I got an end program message for Teatimer.exe

So I cannot post the logs you wanted :(
