Hey ken,

Sorry for the wait things happendyesterday that I wasnt expecting.

Anyway on with the fix:

Kenn,

We'll need to unload Spybot's Teatimer before we begin. To do this, right-click on the icon in the quick launch toolbar at the bottom on the screen, then select "Exit".

===============

If you haven't ran HouseCall lately, let's go back to www.trendmicro.com, download the latest definitions, and run it.

===============

Reboot your computer into "Safe Mode"

===============

Run CWShredder that you downloaded previously
===============

Run AboutBuster (set ti up as shown)

1. Click "Update".
2. Click "Check For Update"

(If no new 'ersion is available, skip to step #4.)

3. Click "Download Update", and wait for it to be installed.
4. Click "Start".

(Wait for the initial ADS scan to complete.)

5. Click "Yes", to shutdown any IE session currently open.

(Wait for the about:blank scan to complete.)

6. Click "Ok", to scan once more.
7. Click "Yes", to shutdown any IE sessions currently open.
8. Click "Yes", to begin the second pass.

9. Click "Save log", and post this log back along with your new log.
10. Click "Exit".
11. Click "Exit".

===============

Reboot your computer normally.

===============

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click "Config..."
2. Click "Misc Tools"
3. Click "Open Process manager"

-

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

C:\WINDOWS\appdm.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

===============

Now, let's open a command prompt and unregister the dll(s) we're going to remove, by entering the following:

regsvr32 /u appkw.dll
regsvr32 /u d3gu.dll

It's ok, if these aren't found or 'error' out. If you want, just copy and paste the individual lines to the command prompt to save on the typing.

===============

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

CoolWebSearch was not found.
I did have to go back into safemode in order to delete one of those files, so after rebooting from safe mode I ran Highjackthis one more time to get you the most recent log.

Hey Ken,

Id like to see if there are some malicious files hiding on your system, please do as follows

  • Download DLLCompare.
  • Double-click on DllCompare.exe to run the program.
  • Click "Run Locate.com" and it will scan your system for files.
  • Once the scan has finished click "Compare" to compare your files to valid Windows files.
  • Once it has finished comparing click "Make a Log of what was found".
  • Click "Yes" at the View Log file? prompt to view the log.
  • Copy and paste the entire log into this topic.
  • If you accidentally close out of the log it is also saved as log.txt to where you saved DllCompare.exe.
  • Click "Exit" to exit DLLCompare.

Also after running that scan run this one too:

Download Findit - http://lineofire.geekstogo.com/FindIt%20NT-2K-XP.zip

Unzip the contents of finditnt.zip to a convenient location such as Desktop.

Navigate to the Find It NT-2K-XP (Win9x&MEFindit) folder and double-click on find.bat. ( Win9x-Find.bat )

A command prompt will open and it will search your computer for malicious files.
Once it has finished a Notepad window will pop up with output.txt.
Copy the entire contents of output.txt into your next post, and include another hijackthis log please.

Try not to reboot after doing this, until I get back to you.
Thanks

Post the results from both scans back here for me to see

Hey Ken,

Remember about reboots Ken

Run Hijackthis and put a check mark next to the following:

O23 - Service: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 11Fßä#·ºÄÖ`I) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\atluc.exe (file missing)

Click "fix"

Exit HijackThis when done. Using Windows Explorer, find and delete the following:

C:\WINDOWS\atluc.exe

Then post a new Hijackthis Log back here

Hey ken,

Ok lets tackle that stubborn O23 line, try not to reboot though please until I advise

Do as follows:

Download Service Filter from here:
http://home.comcast.net/~rand1038/vbscr ... Filter.zip
Extract it to it's own folder.

Run it and post the results from the Log it creates back here and a new Hijackthis Log
