Something from limewire messed up my computer

Unread postby zebradonkey » May 12th, 2005, 10:48 pm

I know, I should not have downloaded limewire. Once I did I began to get popups and my computer has slowed drastically. I have now run 4 different virus scans and nothing has come up but something still seems wrong. I have uninstalled limewire and do not ever plan on reinstalling it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey zebra,

I cant see anything in your Hijackthis Log that needs attention,

However download/set up/run these scans as shown in this link

Thye are SpyBot S&D and AdAware SE
http://www.malwareremoval.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13

Remove anything they find, and let me know how they go

As for your computer being slow, this could be down to Mcafee which is eating up your computer usage especially at Startup

Hey Zebra,

I have noticed that you have also posted this same log at DELL (found by Dobhar)

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums ... ge.id=4122

This is not advised as another expert may analsyse your Log and contradict or clash with what I am advising.

I advise you only follow this topic, I will also put a reply to your topic at DELL advising people that you are currently being helped here

I have run both the Adaware and spybot and nothing came up but I ran the CounterSpy program and it came up with three things. Mini bug (registry), view point beta (registry) and trace plus ethernet (registry). They seem to be located in mulitple locations in the registry (aprox 20 each). Should I manually go in and remove these? Thanks for you help.
