The waiting is nearly over, anyone getting a bit excited?

Hopefully England will win it, but as the forum is multi-national, where does your support lie?

Some will not even know of the world cup - those in the US do not follow football - well not the proper version :)

O-O Chris opened a can of worms O-O

Come on Chris, you'll be expecting them to write the date correctly next. ;) :D :D :D

I was once asked by a woman in Denver Airport where I came from, when I replied England, she asked if that was anywhere near Australia.

She was serious.

So World Cup, let's get real. Image

I think Brasil will take it, but my daughter thinks England. Good news on Rooney ...

A few of us here in the States follow the non-pointy football results.

Well the American's (which I am one... ;) ) might think of the World Cup as a pinball game! lol When I used to run two large Family Entertainment Centers (arcade with redemption and prizes), we had a World Cup pinball game that showed it was Soccer. hehehe A dog playing soccer nonetheless! lol

That is funny, that the person wondered if England was anywhere near Australia!

Once when we were still living in the USA, someone asked my husband where he was from, after they commented on how much he reminds them of Arnold Schwarzenegger (his build, and he can do his voice). Then after my husband said he is from Sweden, they asked if he KNEW Arnold! ROFL

Like Europe is such a small area, that everyone knows each other. Not to mention that my husband wasn't even from the same country as Arnold!

Okay back to the World Cup..........I would have to say that I am rooting for Sweden! ;)

I'd like to thank winchester73 for using the correct term for the beautiful game, 'soccer' doesn't do it justice ;)

Come on England, root 1 it to Crouch :D

That's the joy of the World Cup, you get to see teams that you haven't even heard of before.

The Ivory Coast team were a surprise, lots of spirit and flare, great game against Argentina yesterday.

And the Swedes "do a Germany" and find a last minute goal to keep their hopes alive. Image
Still, if England beat them on Tuesday, we could see Trinidad through to the next round!
It's a funny old game.
