dave-100,
Download Pocket Killbox from: http://www.atribune.org/downloads/KillBox.exe
Unzip it to your desktop
------------------------------------------------------------
Update your Java.
Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components.
  • Close any programs you may have running, ESPECIALLY your web browser
  • Click Start > Control Panel.
  • Click Add/Remove Programs.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Then download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment, and install it to your computer.

You may want to print this out, or save it as a Notepad document on your Desktop, since you won't have Internet access in Safe Mode.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Start Your Computer in Safe Mode.
Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly as the machine boots, until a menu shows up. Choose Safe Mode from the list. In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Additional Info is here: http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm
-----------------------------------------------------------
Delete Files on ReBoot with Killbox
Open Killbox.
Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it
Select "Replace on Reboot" from the left hand column.
Next copy/paste the following into the "Full Path to Delete" box:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winwly32.dll

Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt.
Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).

If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.
If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox,
click here : http://www.eudaemonia.me.uk/downloads/Files/missingfilesetup.exe to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Once the computer reboots please open Hijackthis, scan, and place a checkmark by the following entries:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

O20 - Winlogon Notify: winwly32 - winwly32.dll (file missing)

Close all open windows/browsers and click Fix Checked.
Exit Hijackthis.

Then post a fresh Hijackthis log.

dave_100,
Log looks better.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Disable Windows Defender
Go to Start > All Programs > Windows Defender.
Click on the Tools menu, click General Settings, Scroll down to Real-Time Protection Options section and Deactivate the Real-Time Protection system.

Then, in the toolbar across the top there is a little downpointing arrow next to the question mark icon.
Click on that, get a drop down list. One of the options is to exit Windows Defender.
Click on that, and there will be a pop up asking if you are sure you want to exit. Click Yes/OK.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Go To Control Panel, Security Center, click the AntiVirus pulldown arrow, and tell me what it says.
Check whether Norton AV is actually running.
If you have Norton AntiVirus, enable Norton Auto-Protect.

If you have no AntiVirus, download one of these free anti-virus programs, install it, update it and run a full scan. Have it fix anything it finds.
*AntiVir Free from here : http://www.free-av.com/
*Avast Home Edition from here : http://www.avast.com/eng/down_home.html
*Grisoft AVG from here : http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
DO NOT INSTALL MORE THAN ONE ANTIVIRUS
-----------------------------------------------------------
Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites to your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from accidentally running or downloading known malicious programs. Available from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
After the installation, click Download Latest Protection Updates. When it finishes, click Enable All Protection.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Go into Control Panel, Network Connections and right click on GB Dialler if it's still there.
Choose Disable. OK
Then right click it again and choose Delete, OK.

Let me know how it's running.

Great:

Removed windows defender real time protection

In control panel, i have no AV pulldown arrow, but i have Zone Alarm AV whic i find great

Have downloaded spyware blaster- should i keep this running in the background?

GB Dialler is gone, i deleted it the other day and its not come back.

Since following the instructions from the previous post, things have been ok *fingers crossed*

Will let you know how it goes, thanks so much for your help.

dave_100,

SpywareBlaster just installs a bunch of "forbidden actions" as part of your browser settings. It only need to be activated and updated occasonally, and check "Enable all protections". Then it can be closed.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Disable WinXP System Restore
Disable your System Restore to remove malware files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing them. The only way to erase these files is to temporarily disable System Restore. You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.
- Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- On the System Restore tab, put a Check mark in the Turn Off System Restore check box.
- Click OK twice, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
If you are not prompted to reboot, do it on your own.
-----------------------------------------------------------
After the Reboot,
Enable WinXP System Restore
- Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- On the System Restore tab, Clear the Check mark beside the Turn Off System Restore check box.
- Click OK twice, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
The Disable/Re-enable System Restore sequence is not to be done regularly, but only once after the removal of malware.

Glad we could help you out.
