There is no indication from the scan you last ran that there's anything wrong with your Windows Update setup.
It's possible that any problems your having might be caused by your Firewall/Anti-Virus settings.
try temporarily disabling your AV, then download the update direct from Here

Let me know how it goes.

This hasnt made any difference unfortunately.

I followed your instructions and rebooted byt windows update still tries to reinstall the same update over and over again.

I think something is not right with my windows setup as it still takes a couple of minutes to open an ie window and a chrome window is only marginally quicker?

Hi,
I think something is not right with my windows setup as it still takes a couple of minutes to open an ie window and a chrome window is only marginally quicker?

Your logs appear to be clean, so we can rule out malware as the cause, the main problem im afraid is the age of your system.
If your computer is running slowly after your clean up, please read.

I followed your instructions and rebooted byt windows update still tries to reinstall the same update over and over again.

My research shows that a lot of people are having the same problem with that update.
As this is a dedicated Malware Removal site, (we specialises solely in the removal of Malware). I'm afraid i will have to direct you to experts elsewhere.
Here are some excellent "General Computer Help" forums, where they have people trained to deal with non-Malware related issues.

If anyone asks if you've been checked for malware, please feel free to refer them to this topic.

Time for some housekeeping

Clean up with OTL

  • Double-click OTL.exe to start the program. This will remove some of the tools we used to clean your pc.
  • Close all other programs apart from OTL as this step will require a reboot
  • On the OTL main screen, press the CleanUp! button
  • Say Yes to the prompt and then allow the program to reboot your computer.

Next.

Uninstall AdwCleaner

  • Double click on AdwCleaner.exe.
  • Note: If AdwCleaner prompts you an update is available, click Cancel and continue to uninstall.
  • Click on Uninstall.
  • Confirm with yes.

You can now delete any tools/logs we used if they remain on your Desktop.

Again be aware that Microsoft will terminate support of Windows XP/SP3 on April 8, 2014.
That means it will no longer have updates and patches to prevent PC infections.

I would be grateful if you could reply to this post so that I know you have read it and, if you've no other questions, the thread can be closed.

Safe surfing!

At least my pc is now clean - I'll have a go on one of your suggested forums to improve my windows performance as best as I can.

Thank you very much for your help.

All the best
