Unread postby Vlaric » March 26th, 2006, 9:35 pm

Hi,

My PC crashes whenever I use P2P. (Limewire/Shareaza/Bit Comet)Im not too sure if it might crash if I used other non p2p programmes. My PC will freeze or restart after between 2 mins to 2 hours after using them.
I hope you guys will be able to help me and this annoying problem.

PS.I have tried the obvious such as using virus/spyware checkers, used system restore, reduced the amount of uploads/downloads, ensured versions of the software is up to date.

Please follow the instructions provided, you may want to print out these instructions and use them as a reference. If you have any questions regarding the fix, please ask us before proceeding. Please make sure that you follow this in the right order as I have listed.

==========================================================

Download Tools

Please download these tool(s) first before we proceed to the next steps:

1. ATF Cleaner by Atribune
  • Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.
2. Ewido Anti-Malware
  • Install Ewido.
  • When installing, under Additional Options, uncheck:
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
  • Launch Ewido.
  • The program will now open the main screen.
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
    • Then click on the Start Update button.
  • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • After it has finished, close Ewido, we will use it later.
  • If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido » Ewido manual updates.
==========================================================

Uninstall New.Net

First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet.

Click Start » Control Panel » Add/Remove Programs, and then Uninstall these programs (if present):
    New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains
** If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4.

** In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. Check the "I know what I'm doing" button. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.

==========================================================

Run HijackThis

Please open HJT, click Do a system scan only, and then place a checkmark beside each of these entries:

  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report.
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.
  • Close ewido security suite.
