Hello guntrip,

Welcome to the MWR forums.

There isn't much going on in your log file. Are you having any specific problems? If so, may I have the details?

The following Startup (O4) is an optional fix. It is also something that definitely does not need to start when Windows launches. The O17 entry should only be fixed if it is NOT your ISP.

If you're not having any particular problems, I can recommend some other optional startup (O4) entries that you can disable. When we have taken care of everything that you need, I would then post some tips on how to keep your machine free of malware.

--->Important Step<---Before we get started, lHijackThis needs to be moved to its own, permanent folder.

HijackThis will create a backup file to use if a restore is necessary, so please DO NOT run HijackThis from a temporary location or your desktop.

Create a folder on the root drive, (Usually C:\), called C:\HJT.
1. Go to "My Computer", (Windows key+e), or by double-clicking on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop.
2. Double click on "C:"
3. Right click and select New->Folder. Name it HJT. Move HijackThis to this new folder.

Also move the "Backups" folder, for HiJackThis, if present.

Run HiJackThis and click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [OrderReminder] C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\OrderReminder\OrderReminder.exe

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{80FCB7D6-A31A-4943-AFFC-52CBCC56BE23}: NameServer = 192.168.0.3,217.13.128.17
...(Verify that these ip addresses are for your isp's DNS Servers, if so, don't 'fix' these.)

With all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

Post back a new log, along with a description of any problems and/or concerns you are (still) having. :wave:

Hello Linda,

I'm glad that we were able to help. 8) Following is my standard "final cleanup" speech. Included are some tips on how to keep your machine malware free in trhe future.

1. Run "Disk Cleanup" and allow it to remove everything it finds.

2. If you've downloaded MicroWorld]MicroWorld AV (MWAV), run it again - but don't scan, just click "Clear Log" and exit the program.

Please skip this step 3. Go to www.trendmicro.com and click "Free Online Scan", then "Scan now, it's free!". Follow on-screen prompts.

4. Disable, then re-enable system restore; with a reboot in-between. Then immediately create a new system restore point manually.

Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:
  • Spywareblaster => SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
  • Spywareguard => SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
  • How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware => If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
  • How to use Spybot to remove Spyware => If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware
To protect yourself further:
  • IE/Spyad => IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • MVPS Hosts file => The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
  • Google Toolbar => Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
I also suggest that you delete your temporary files by deleting all files and folders that are in those folders (do not delete the temp folder itself), for example:
  • C:\WINDOWS\Temp\--->Everything After the \.
  • C:\Temp\--->Everything After the \.
  • C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\--->Everything After the \.
  • Repeat for all users.
Also delete your Temporary Internet Files:
  • Click Start=>Control Panel=>Internet options.
  • Under the Generaltab.
  • Click Delete Files button.
  • Place a check-mark in Delete all off-line content.
  • Click OK=>OK
  • Exit Control Panel
  • Repeat for all users.
Empty the recycle bin:
  • Right-click the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop.
  • Select "Empty Recycle Bin".
  • Repeat forall users.
Note: You can also do the above steps using a program such as Cleanup! from Steven Gould or CCleaner.These steps should be done on a regular basis.

Also, please see: So how did I get infected in the first place?

If you have any other problems, don't hesitate to post back with a description and a fresh HijackThis log. :wave:

We have noticed a few things with your access to our forum.

1.
Several people are having logs done from the same IP number - YOURS.

2.
They have all registered in the last few days, all with different machines.

Our rules state that a person is not allowed to have more than one username registered at our forum.

I have moved all your topics to this room :-
http://www.malwareremoval.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=78

It is hidden from normal public view, and I would like you to please explain what is going on here.

What it looks like is that you are one person, and are using our services to provide a service toother people, possibly for a fee.

Can you pease explain what is going on.
