Problems with human configuration popups

Unread postby lookingforhelp » January 3rd, 2011, 6:59 am

Since yesterday on every hompage a pop up opens that is called human configuration and I have to choose a I pad or wallpaper to have access to my accounts for example facebook or emails.
In another forum is said that I should download malwarebytes Anti-maleware and the Trend Micro Hijackthis.
The Malwaresoftware even found nothing and I don´t know what the logfile of the Trend Micro Hijackthis means.

The logfile is:

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.4

Re: Problems with human configuration popups

Unread postby askey127 » January 5th, 2011, 12:35 pm

Hi lookingforhelp,

That annoying popup occurs because of the way the Popup blocker is set.
You can adjust the settings in Internet Explorer so the Pop-up Blocker works the way you wish.
Open Internet Explorer.
On the Tools menu, click Pop-up Blocker, and then Pop-up Blocker Settings.

-------------------------------------------------------
IF You Don't Have Firefox, get it here and install it : http://www.getfirefox.net/
-------------------------------------------------------
Now fix Firefox like this, use it for surfing, and adware popups will not be a problem:

Update Firefox and Improve Security
Open Firefox. Hit an <Alt> key to pop up the File menu at the top.
Click Help in the top menu, and choose Check for Updates
Let it install any updates it wants.

Install Adblock Plus
Open Firefox if its not running. Hit an <Alt> key again, to pop up the File menu at the top.
Click on Tools, then Add-ons
When the Add-ons dialog comes up, type "Adblock Plus" into the search box, then click on it, and click the Add to Firefox button.
When asked to choose a filter, choose the first one.

Install NoScript
Open Firefox if its not running. Hit an <Alt> key again, to pop up the File menu at the top.
Click on Tools, then Add-ons
When the Add-ons dialog comes up, type "NoScript" into the search box, then click on it, and click the Add to Firefox button.
This blocks scripts from running on any website unless you click on the little "S" in the lower right corner of the screen and choose Allow scripts this page.
You should only allows scripts on trusted websites. (Be very cautious on Social sites like Facebook.)
---------------------------------------------
Run a Scan with OTL
  • Download OTL to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed to let it run uninterrupted.
  • When the window appears, In the Standard Registry box, click All.
  • Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
  • Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location
as OTL (should be on your desktop).
    • Make sure Notepad's Format, Wordwrap is unchecked.
    • Please copy the contents of each of these files, one at a time, and post them in your next reply.
  • Use separate replies if you wish.

Let me know how it goes for you.

Due to Lack of Response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
