Hello!

Below are my Hijackthis and Unistall Logs. A few notes about what's been happening:

Computer had been running slowly, crawling occasionally. Have Norton antivirus running.
Went to a website Norton said was safe when I was trying to watch an old tv show online (link ended up sending me someplace random)
Ever since, computer has been getting a notice from Norton "An intrusion attempt by .... was blocked" every few minutes.
At times, a random popup will make it through.
This warning has popped up literally hundreds of times since the date I got the virus, back on Aug. 19, with many different IP addresses listed as the attacking computer.
Disconnected wireless connection and Norton still logged "Unauthorized access blocked (Open process token)" about once an hour, all from programs on my computer that I would ordinarily trust.
Tried to fix the computer by stopping some startup menu options. A few rundlls were involved:
-mmduch
-usibewavate
-cisnt40b
DLed Ccleaner and Windows Defender to try and stop attacks. Used CCleaner to run registry cleanup - while it deleted a number of old reg keys, it didn't find anything malicious
On a friend's advice, I searched the above directly on the computer and in the registry - only mmduch came up. Altered the keys to attempt to make them not run. Still received attack messages from Norton.
Tried to change all registry keys referencing msmsgs because of reports online that it can be corrupt. Still getting attacked.
Then DLed and attempted to use ZoneAlarm, because it would tell me anytime someone would try to get onto the machine, however, Norton seemed to want it turned off anyway.
After DL and install, computer now will not access internet at all - wireless will connect, but no program can access it.
Tried to put the registry keys back to the way they were, and to uninstall Windows Defender and ZoneAlarm Now after startup, black cmd window opens, totally blank, with "C:\DOCUME~1\Julie\LOCALS~1\Temp\cpes_clean_launcher.exe" in the title line. Also, a warning box that says "Check Point Enpoint Security Removal - A restart is required to complete the removal of Endpoint Security. Click OK to restart now." If I click "OK" or close the window, the computer automatically restarts. If I click nothing and leave the box open, I can continue to work.

I made system restore points, registry, and hard drive backups before I started messing around with any of this. I have tried (since my last disasterous foray into the registry) to run the system restore feature, but it cannot restore to any of my previous restore points for some reason. Also, it appears that before I made a manual one about two weeks ago, it has never made a restore point for my system, although I have it set to the maximum space amount. If I must wipe the whole system and start fresh, I can handle that (as I said, I made the backups), but I'm worried that the attacks won't stop.

Thanks so much for the help in advance!
Julie

Re: Computer suspected to be infected: HTTPS Tidserv Request

Hi adarkquiet,
You have a rootkit infection named TDSS or TidServ.
It can be difficult to remove properly.
With all the changes you have made, the odds of fixing it now are not good.

I would definitely Reformat and Re-install the system, then post back here with your logs, and a note that it is a re-install after TDSS.
Someone will check it out for you.
Some of the changes you made are not a good idea.
In the future, better to first get competent help doing those things. Might save a lot of work.

As this issue will need to be resolved with a reformat, this topic is now closed.
