Problem Description: the other day i was looking through google images (they changed the interface recently, probably why this malware got in) and i clicked on an image and was hit with 4 malware notifications from my avast antivirus that were trying to be saved to be computer. avast stopped the connections (trojans apparantly), but apparently it didnt catch all of them. later i noticed a hidden file on my desktop (always have show hidden on) called "~ap.tmp" . a quick google showed this to be related to malware of some sort. it didnt let me delete the file, so i did scans with malwarebytes and avast and they didnt find anything, so i restarted my computer and the file on my desktop was gone.

i figured i was still infected, so i looked around and found that files were being created in C: periodically called "dvmexp.idx" in the temp folder similar files with "Vaeconf.idx", "bookmark.idk" were being created. i have never seen these files before, so they must be related to the malware. i deleted them several times, but they seem to be updating every 30 mins and i cant figure out where its coming from.

when i use process explorer there are also some "ddlhost.exe" files that keep popping up under svchost now and then. the internet says these are sometimes malware. something seems to have attempted to break malwarebytes too.

thanks for any help. i should note that the malware hasnt seemed to do anything yet.

I see from your HJT log that you're using a 64 bit operating system.

Unfortunately, the tools we use to analyze and remove infections do not work properly on a 64 bit operating system, and their results cannot be relied upon. Because of this, it is almost impossible for us to correctly diagnose problems, and the fixes we might offer could potentially do as much damage to your computer as any infection you might have.

Due to the above stated reasons, we do not at this time offer support for 64 bit operating systems. We are sorry that we are currently unable to assist you.

This topic is now closed.
