Unread postby GeniusMagic » August 4th, 2010, 7:19 pm

Hi - My dell laptop seems to be severely infected by malware/virus. I am not able to browse any website using any of the browsers such as chrome, ie.
The moment I start the browser I get a popup saying "this file is infected" and it crashess. I am getting a lot of other popus asking me to start the virus scan etc.

I tried installing hi jack this but it does not allow me to do that either. I am confused as to what should I do ? I am writing this from my roomates laptop as my infected computer is not allowing me to visit any website.

Since I am not able to open any website, I dont know how can I download any anti virus software and install it on the infected computer to recover it ?
Pls advice

Thanks

As your computer is very severely infected, your best option is to reformat. Dells are usually quite easy to restore to their original factory state:

As the resolution of this issue requires a reformat, and a referral to a site that can assist with that process has been made, this topic will now be closed.
