Hi, I came here a few days ago, and a member helped me fix my pc, and suggested some software for me to install. I done everything as instructed, and now my pc is doing the same things as it was before I came. I ran a scan and my scan is finding maleware on it everytime, and I dont believe its removing it. It all started again after I installed the software,I dont know what I did wrong, but please help. here are my logs.

Hi wendystamper.
The software i recommended would not of caused the problems you are describing.
A couple of questions.
1. What scan is finding malware?
1. Are you're searches being redirected again?

Re: getting maleware on pc messages from virus scan

I used the windows fix it scan on the microsoft site. It all started after I put that Mcafee thing on it. It stopped the internet explorer from working correctly. I dont know if I installed it wrong or what. It reset my homepage, and I can not get it to go back to what I had it set as, and it wont allow me to download the updates for internet explorer, so I went to the microsoft page, to see if I could fix it on my own, and it came up that I had malware, so then I ran my scanner, malware bytes anti maleware that came with my system mechanic software I bought before I came to you the first time, and it said it found some too... it found alot it said, like 30 something. So then I thought well he helped me set up a new system restore, so I will just do that, but it wouldnt let me. I dont know what I done wrong, I thought I followed your directions right, but I must have done something wrong cause its acting up again. Its not forwarding me again like it was, but it wont load right now, and I keep getting error messages about java not being a authentic signature or something like that. and when I go to java.com too check it it says its fine, not sure what i done, was just hoping you could help me again. I am so sorry, I know you used alot of time helping me already, I dont know whats going on.

Re: getting maleware on pc messages from virus scan

Unread postby Cypher » July 25th, 2010, 1:46 pm

Hi wendy.
It all started after I put that Mcafee thing on it.

Do you mean SiteAdvisor ?
Post the log from the last scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware where it found malware.
Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware then click on Logs, they are time dated.

Next.

RSIT (Random's System Information Tool)

Please download RSIT by random/random... and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run it.
  • Please read the disclaimer... click on Continue.
  • RSIT will start running. When done... 2 logs files...will be produced.
  • The first one, "log.txt", << will be maximized
  • The second one, "info.txt", << will be minimized.
Please post both... "log.txt" and "info.txt", file contents in your next reply.
(These logs can be lengthy, so post 1 log per reply please.)

Logs/Information to Post in your Next Reply

  • Malwarebytes log.
  • RSIT log.txt and info.txt contents.
  • Please give me an update on your computers performance.

Re: getting maleware on pc messages from virus scan

Unread postby wendystamper » July 25th, 2010, 2:10 pm

The last scan I done with maleware didnt finish. the pc froze up, after the quick scan found the things it did, I tried to do a complete detailed scan. and it froze and closed down. I had to do a hard boot, so I cant find that one, It didnt start back up when I done the hard boot so I guess it didnt finish or something.

thats what I was trying to say, It was still scanning and said like 32 I think was what it said, but the pc froze, and I had to hard boot it, there are two logs on there right now, one from the 20th and one from the 14th. It isnt showing that one I had started that had found all the other stuff. I done the one I posted above, it was the quick scan, and when it showed I had a couple things. I figured I needed to do the full scan. so I started it again, doing the full system scan and that was the one showing there was 30 something, give or take a few on it, but the computer froze and I had to hard boot it. I can try to run it again and post that log if you want, but I am not able to find the log on there from the big scan I was doing that day.

Hi wendy.
Yes please update MBAM and run a full scan, post the log in you're next reply.
We will reset IE also then let me know if you still have problems with it.

Reset IE7:

  • Please download Microsoft FixIt and save it to the desktop.
  • Double click on MicrosoftFixit50195.exe select I Agree and click on Next.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts.
  • You may delete MicrosoftFixit50195.exe when finished and or keep it if any problems in the future with IE8.
  • Next time IE8 is launched you will be prompted to reapply settings again, this is normal.
  • Note: Any add-ons will require to be reapplied after the above reset.

Next.

Please download ATF Cleaner to your desktop.

  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser
  • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

Next.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

  • Launch the application, Check for Updates >> Perform full Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Check all items except items in the C:\System Volume Information folder... and click Remove Selected.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. please copy and paste the log into your next reply.
  • The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt

This is the most current log from the last scan. it only said it found 3 items this time. I had ran the scan that microsoft has the other day also, trying to get it to allow me to install internet explorer 8, and it removed alot then, so maybe thats why it wasnt the full amount that it was the other day, but anyway, heres what it said this evening.

Hi wendy.
Did you reset IE as instructed? if so how is it performing now?
The MBAM scan looks good but i would like to run another check with an online scan.

Run ATF Cleaner again it should still be on you're desktop.

Next.

Disable Avast

  • Right click on the avast! icon in system tray (looks like this: Image) and choose (Stop On-Access Protection)
  • Note: Don't forget to re-enable it after the fix.

Next.

Disable Winpatrol

  • Right-click the running icon of Winpatrol ( Scotty the dog ) in the sytem tray and choose exit programe.
  • Note: Dont forget to Re-inable it after the fix

Next.

Kaspersky Online Scan

You can use either Internet Explorer or Mozilla FireFox for this scan.

Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.

  • Hold down Control then click on the following link to open a new window to Kaspersky Online Scan
  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
    • Archives
  • Click on My Computer under Scan. * This will take a while. Please be patient *.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  • Please post this log in your next reply.

This online tutorial will help explain how to use the aforementioned online scan.

this is an error message I have been getting. just got it when I clicked on that site so I wrote what it said so you could see the error message I was talking about earlier.

THE PUBLISHER CAN NOT BE VERIFIED BY A TRUSTED SOURCE. CODE WILL BE TREATED AS UNSIGNED.

NAME: JAVAM
SUN.SECURITY.VALIDATOR.VALIDATOR EXCEPTION.PKIX PATH VALIDATION FAILED:JAVA.CERT.CERTPATHVALIDATOREXCEPTION:MUST SPECIFY THE LOCATION OF AN OSCP RESPONDER.

have been getting that message ever since I first used the microsoft windows fix it tool to try to fix IE. It reset everything, and I have got that message ever since.

Yes I did redo the internet explorer, and that seem to work, it allowed me to change my home page. before when it locked the new homepage on me, it was www.yahoosearch.com\McAfee, it went to that after I put that one program on that was from Mcafee and it would not allow me to change it, even after I done the add/remove on the app. ok I will try to run the scan above now, just thought I needed to make you aware of this. Thanks
