My hijack this scan log

Unread postby rmike01 » July 18th, 2010, 2:24 am

Hello
I am new to this board.
I use Windows XP SP 2.
My laptop has been behaving strangely.
It has become unusually slow, lots of pop ups, noticed one intruder on my network.
Any advise is appreciated

Hi and welcome to the MR forums. :)

I'm melboy and I am going to try to help you with your problem. Please take note of the following:

  1. I will be working on your Malware issues this may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
  2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
  3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.
  4. Please refrain from making any further changes to your computer (Install/Uninstall programs, delete files, edit the registry, etc...)
  5. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans whilst I am helping you.
  6. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  7. DO NOT attach logs unless requested to. Please copy/paste all requested logs into your replies.
  8. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
  9. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

NOTE: Please take time to read the Malware Removal Forum Guidelines and Rules where the conditions for receiving help at this forum are explained.

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that removing Malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. However it is impossible for me to foresee all interactions that may happen between the software on your computer and those we'll use to clear you of infection, and I cannot guarantee the safety of your system. It is possible that we might encounter situations where the only recourse is to re-format and re-install your operating system, or to necessitate you taking your computer to a repair shop.

Because of this, I advise you to backup any personal files and folders before you start.

No Reply Within 3 Days Will Result In Your Topic Being Closed!! If you need more time, please inform me.

======================================

DDS

Please disable any anti-malware program that will block scripts from running before running DDS.

Please download DDS from one of the links below and save it to your desktop:

Link1
Link2
Link3

Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool. A command window will appear, this is normal.

Image
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

Please copy & paste the contents of :
  • DDS.txt
  • Attach.txt
And post them in your next reply.

Gmer

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here.

  • Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
  • Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.
  • Double click the .exe file. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
    See image below
    Image
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in your next reply
  • Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.

-- If GMER crashes or keeps resulting in a BSoDs, uncheck Devices on the right side before scanning -- If you continue to encounter problems, try running GMER in safe mode

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Note: Do not run any programs while Gmer is running.

In your next reply:
  1. DDS.txt
  2. Attach.txt
  3. GMER log

Hi

Please be assured that none of the tools I have you run collect any Personally Identifiable Information.

They are simply diagnostic tools that give me information about your system and it's settings to help me fix what's wrong.

I am not worried about you looking at my information and I do apologize for any misunderstanding.
I am just worried what info these scans could provide hackers with

Nobody will be able to hack into your computer on the basis of what information they read in the logs. ;)

Mike,

This site is primarily a teaching & training facility for trainees to learn malware removal. The logs need to be posted in public view so that trainees can view the logs for themselves and learn the removal techniques from qualified and experienced helpers like myself. Other helpers may also analyze the logs when researching a particular infection, for further information that may help in other cases.

Although your name may be on the logs (as the name of the computer owner, or the user account name), there may be many people with a name that matches your own. That information alone doesn't make it possible to uniquely identify, contact, or locate you in any way. That information therefore is not personally identifiable information.

If your concerns about privacy are so, then I would recommend that you seek assistance with your problem from a technician at a repair shop local to you where you live, so that level of privacy can be maintained.

Please let me know what you would like to do.

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
