Hi,
Let's proceed.

First,
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware here and save to the desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to:
    Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    Image
  • Refer to above image and then click Remove Selected to proceed.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the log back into your next reply
Note:
  • The log can also be found here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
  • Or via the Logs tab when Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is started.
Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts.
Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process.
If asked to restart the computer, please do so. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Next,
Reboot into the usual account.

Re: Phony malware removal software scam.

Unread postby jkwozney » June 21st, 2010, 9:36 am

I downloaded Malwarebytes and went all the way through the install process but it will not launch. I got to the end of the install when I have to make sure of the checkmarks to update and launch but the program does not launch. I then tried to click the icon on the all programs list with no success.

Hi,
I assume you're not uninstall MBAM.
Try this one with random file.

First,
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - Random
  • Please download this randomize rename file and save to the desktop.
  • Move the file into the Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder on the infected PC and double click the file to launch it.
  • Then malwarebytes should run.
Note : If the Malwarebytes's Anti-Malware still can't run, please rename the file to explorer.exe
  • Click on Update tab > Check for Updates.
  • Once done, click on Scanner tab, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.
.

Next,
follow the rest of instructions as previous.

Hi,
Do take note, this step will remove your P2P (utorrent) to comply our policy. If you don't want to remove, please stop and tell me to close this topic.

First,
ERUNT by Lars Hederer
Download ERUNT and save to the desktop.
  • Double click on erunt-setup.exe to install the program.
  • Follow the prompts > uncheck Create NTREGOPT desktop icon at the Additional Tasks screen.
  • Click No when you are prompted about creating an ERUNT entry in the startup folder.
  • Next screen, uncheck Show documentation and check Launch ERUNT.
  • If ERUNT doesnt start by itself, launch it from the desktop shortcut.
  • At the configuration screen, make sure all 3 checkboxes are checked
  • Click Ok to run the backup process

Note:
The backups can be restored from here:
C:\windows\ERDNT\<todays date>\ERDNT.exe

Next,
OTM by Old Timer.
Please download from HERE and save to the desktop.
  • Double-click on OTM.exe.
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below.

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
