BigT,

You don't have a running AntiVirus. That's a problem.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Download one of these free anti-virus programs RIGHT NOW, update it and run a full scan. Have it fix anything it finds.
*AntiVir Free from here : http://www.free-av.com/
*Avast Home Edition from here : http://www.avast.com/eng/down_home.html
*Grisoft AVG from here : http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
-----------------------------------------------------------
Disable Microsoft Anti-Spyware
In the system tray in the lower right, locate the MS Anti-Spy red Bullseye.
Right click it.
Highlight Security Agents Status(Enabled) and click Disable Real Time Protection.
Right click the Bullseye again to be sure it now shows Security Agents Status (Disabled).

EDITED next disable: askey
-----------------------------------------------------------
Disable SpywareGuard
- Right Click the running icon of Spywareguard to open the program.
- Then go to Menu, File, Exit.
- Confirm the program is closed.
(Reverse this process after your malware removal is complete).
- Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect before running HJT.
END EDIT

-----------------------------------------------------------
Got to Start, Control Panel, doubleclick Java.
Got to the Updates tab and download the latest update
-----------------------------------------------------------
Download ATF Cleaner by Atribune © from here : http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1
It is a stand-alone program that does not need to be "installed". Save it to a convenient location and make a shortcut on your desktop.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main, choose Select All
Click Empty Selected

If you use Firefox browser,
Click Firefox at the top and choose Select All
Click on Empty Selected
NOTE: If you would like to keep any saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit to close.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Scan one more time with your new AntiVirus
-----------------------------------------------------------
Post a New HJT Log
Reboot your computer. Start HijackThis. Click Do System Scan and Save a Log File.
When the Scan is complete, select the whole log (Ctrl-A), copy and paste the log contents in a reply.

BigT
Your log looks pretty good now. I am not 100% certain about the file arservice.exe in your C:\Windows directory but there is no adverse info on it at this time.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You have DAP installed.
Please note that if you're using any form of Peer-to-Peer networking and/or downloading files from non-documented sources, you can expect infestations of malware to occur. Once upon a time, P2P file sharing was fairly safe. That is no longer true. You may use P2P sharing at your own risk; however, please keep in mind that this practice may be a source of malware infestation. Additional information on the safety of Peer to Peer Networks is here : http://www.spywareinfo.com/articles/p2p/ -(from NonSuch)
-----------------------------------------------------------
Use Add/Remove Programs In Control Panel
From Start, Settings, Control Panel or Start, Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
Highlight each Entry, as follows, one by one, if it exists, and choose Remove :
Any Older versions of Java Only, like J2SE version 5 earlier than Update 6, that show. Leave the highest numbered one, J2SE version 5 Update 6, alone.
Take extra care in answering questions posed by any Uninstaller.
-----------------------------------------------------------
If You Don't Have it, Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites to your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from accidentally running or downloading known malicious programs. Available from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
After the installation, click Download Latest Protection Updates. When it finishes, click Enable All Protection.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Download and Install a HOSTS File
A Hosts file is a plain text file which prevents your computer from connecting to malware and spyware sites by redirecting the connection request to 127.0.0.1, which is your local address. If you use a proxy server, or if you are on AOL, be sure to read the special instructions.
You can download the MVPS Hosts File and see a HOSTS file tutorial here : http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
This website also contains useful tips, and links to other resources and utilities.

Thanks for your help askey.. Do you think I should delete DAP :?:
Yes I do have spyware blaster and it is running.
The last one about install a host file looks a bit tricky to me..I'm running a linksys wireless network with my daughters pc upstairs.
I'm worried about messing around with the settings with this host files program. :?

Big T,

OK, I understand. You can get along without it. SpywareBlaster will provide a lot of protection.
Your log looks good.
You don't have to get rid of DAP, if you use it. But be extra careful what you download. Any downloaded file should be scanned immediately with your antivirus. (Right Button Click and choose Scan with AntiVirus.)
Good Luck!
