Error 711 using DUN - suspect infection

Hi,
I have a laptop that I use with a BT dongle when at work. After downloading a suspect file and executing it,
the BT Access Manager now returns an error 711, and refuses to work.
I have symptoms similar to those found at Q329441 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/329441
and have tried their suggested solutions.
I am running SP3 though, not SP1 as mentioned on their site.
I would like to resolve the problem, rather than flattening the machine and starting again if possible
Please help

Please be aware that removing Malware is a potentially hazardous undertaking. I will take care not to knowingly suggest courses of action that might damage your computer. The laptop is a personal computer, but I am a geek :)
A network engineer by profession, there are some tools on there that I
occasionally use for work and training purposes, but it's a personal
laptop.
