Hi juwlee67,
Sorry for the delay in answering your request.
We have had more logs than we could handle in a timely manner.
If you still need help and are not receiving it elsewhere, please proceed as follows:

The HiJackThis version you have is too old to give complete information about your machine.
Please Uninstall it, then proceed as follows:
-----------------------------------------------
Download the Installer for HiJackThis 2.0.4 from here: http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/ and save to your Desktop.
  • Doubleclick HiJackThis.msi to install it.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and a text log file will open in notepad.
  • Make sure Notepad's Format Menu has Word Wrap Unchecked.
  • Copy/Paste the entire log to your next reply please.
  • No matter what it says in the QuickStart Guide or elsewhere, DON'T USE the "ANALYZE THIS" button.
Its Findings can be Dangerous for your machine.
  • Please Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet.
Most of what it is in the log are legitimate entries, necessary for the operation of your computer.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Retrieve the List of Installed programs Using HJT
Open HijackThis, click Open The Misc Tools Section. Then scroll down the list if you need to, click Open Uninstall Manager and Save List...
The List of installed programs will automatically be saved as uninstall_list.txt in your HiJackThis folder.
In addition, the list opens in Notepad so you can also save as another name in another location if you wish.
Please paste the contents into your next reply.

So we will be looking for the fresh HiJackThis log, and the Uninstall list from HiJackThis.

juwlee67,
-----------------------------------------------
Please Note Our Policy on the Use of P2P (Person to Person / Peer to Peer) file sharing programs
It is posted here: http://malwareremoval.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=33112
As a condition of receiving our help, I have included the P2P program Frostwire in the removal instructions below, so we are not wasting our time.
If you have used this, you can be fairly confident this is a principal reason your computer is infected

It's really important, if you value your PC at all, to stay away from P2P file sharing programs, like utorrent, Bittorrent, Azureus, Limewire, Vuze, Frostwire.
Criminals have "planted" thousands upon thousands of infections in the "free" shared files. Some of the recent infections can turn your machine into a doorstop.
It's also very important to avoid any "cracks" or "Keygens" that allow unauthorized use of programs. Besides being illegal, these files also are loaded with "planted" malware.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Remove Registry items with HighjackThis. Start HijackThis.
Click Do System Scan Only. When the Scan is complete, Check the following entries:
(Some of these lines may be missing)
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE= ... on&pf=cnnb
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TYPE= ... on&pf=cnnb

Make sure Every other window except HJT is closed (No other tabs showing in the bottom tray), and Click Fix Checked
Click the "X" in the upper right corner of the HiJackThis window to close it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
REBOOT(RESTART) Your Machine
------------------------------------------------
Remove Programs Using Control Panel(Vista)
From Start, Control Panel, click on Uninstall a program under the Programs heading.
Right click each Entry, as follows, one by one, if it exists, choose Uninstall/Change, and give permission to Continue:
Java(TM) 6 Update 7
FrostWire 4.18.3

Take extra care in answering questions posed by any Uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into Keeping the program.
------------------------------------------------
Please run a fresh HiJackThis scan and post the log.

Please also tell me what kind of difficulty you are having, and whether it continues.

Hi askey127,

Ran the below steps, still having a redirect problem in ie7. Having some keyboard key recognition problems too, not sure if this has anything do with the malware issue tho.

I also wanted to ask about this error everytime I run HighJackThis:
01 - Hosts file redirection

For some reason your system denied srite access to the Hosts file. If any Hijacked domains are in this file, HijackThis may NOT be able to fix this.

If that happens, you need to edit the file yourself. To do this, click Start, run and type:

notepad C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

and press Enter. Find the line(s) HijackThis reports and delete them. Save the file as 'hosts.' (with quotes), and reboot.

For Vista: simply, exit HijackThis, right click on the HijackThis icon, choose "Run as administrator".

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is another error I get when running HijackThis:

Cannot find the C:\Program Files\Trend
Micro\HijackThis\hijackthis.log file.

Do you want to create a new file?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------hijackthis is not putting the log into notepad so I don't know how to copy the log.

That message is OK.
It just means the HOSTS file is set for Read Only. We will take care of that.
When you start HiJackThis, if you click Do a System scan Only" it will not make a log file.
If you click "Do a System Scan and Save a logfile" the new log will come up in Notepad or whatever you use for text files.
Try again on this part if you will.

To disable Avast!:
DISABLE AVAST
Right click on the avast! icon in system tray (looks like this: Image) and choose (Stop On-Access Protection)
Avast On-Access Protection is now disabled.
--------------------------------------------------------
Download and Run ToolBar S&D
Download ToolBar S&D and save to your desktop.
Disable your antivirus and antimalware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ToolBar S&D.
If you don't know how to disable your AntiVirus, please ask and I will help.
  • Double-click ToolBar S&D.exe
  • Choose the language, then choose Option 1 (Search)
  • Wait till the end of the scan.
  • Notepad will open containing the report log.
  • Post that log in your next reply.
  • A copy will also be saved in %SystemDrive%\TB.txt. Usually C:\TB.txt

You can do the Avast process again to re-enable it, except uncheck Stop On-Access protection.

juwlee67,
-----------------------------------------------------------
Disable Windows Defender
Go to Start > All Programs > Windows Defender.
Click on the Tools menu, click General Settings, Scroll down to Real-Time Protection Options section and Deactivate the Real-Time Protection system.

Then, in the toolbar across the top there is a little downpointing arrow next to the question mark icon.
Click on that, get a drop down list. One of the options is to exit Windows Defender.
Click on that, and there will be a pop up asking if you are sure you want to exit. Click Yes/OK.

(To start it up again later, go to Start > Programs > Windows Defender and it will start running again).
-----------------------------------------------------------
Copy/Paste/Run a Registry Edit
Copy/paste the contents of the following code box into a new notepad document:
Code: Select all
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main]
"Start Page"=-
"Default_Page_URL"=-

Make sure there are NO blank lines before REGEDIT4
Make sure there IS one blank line at the end of the file.

Save it as File Type All Files (not as a Text document, or it won't work).
Save it to your Desktop as fixme.reg
Right click fixme.reg on your Desktop, choose Run as administrator and merge it into the registry when asked.
Reboot Windows.
----------------------------------------------
Run Temp File Cleaner
Download Temp File Cleaner and save it to your desktop.
Double click to run it. (Right click and Run as Administrator in Vista)
If it asks to Reboot, choose to do so. This will remove files that could not be removed while Windows was running.
After Restart, log back in to your usual account.
-------------------------------------------------
Please download GMER Rootkit Scanner from Here.
  • Right click the .exe file and chose Run as Administrator. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO
    Image
Click the image to enlarge it
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
    • Sections
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in your next reply
**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Note: Do not run any programs while Gmer is running.
