freezing, bluescreen, registry file failure

Strangely My free avast antivirus had stopped working . I pushed the "fix now " button and it didn't work. I tried a virus scan with it and it said something about not being able to find endpoints. Then the computer froze. I reinstalled avast and did a boottime scan of the system drive and it found nothing. The next day the computer booted up and then froze again after I shut it down and turned it on It gave me the option of attempt repair or start normally. When I would select either option it would show the same screen. Then I got a blue screen saying Stop: 0xc0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\CorruptHive or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable. Also I have had an overheating problem with my hard drive as to where the new fans I had installed are not cutting it and I have to use a household box fan. My computer was bought new two years ago.
