Google links redirect to unrelated sites

Unread postby rebel_son1456 » March 14th, 2010, 8:43 pm

So, I started having this problem last night. Using IE8, when I search on google, it'll bring up the search results, but when I click on a result, it directs me to an entirely different site. For example, if I search "Ford Mustang" and click on the first result (fordvehicles.com/cars/mustang) it redirects to "http://forshe.net/search.php" I only have this problem on Internet Explorer. I also have Firefox installed, so I've been using that for everything now. However, Firefox does have a few little quirks lately, once in a while it'll open up a new tab that I didn't ask for or something like that.

Also, I don't know if this is related, but about 2 weeks ago my computer kept bringing up this window "Vista Antivirus 2010" telling my my computer wasn't secure and such. I thought I'd removed that, I edited the registry, and then scanned with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and that unwanted window quit popping up all the time. But then about a week ago, it came up with that same window again, but only once. It hasn't done that again. As I said, I don't know if this is related to the other issue.

Anyhow, this has been very frustrating and hopefully someone can help! thanks in advance! here's my Hijackthis.log and uninstall_list.txt :

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.

Somethings to remember while we are working together.

1.Please do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!
2.Please reply to this thread, do not start another!
3.Please tell me about any problems that have occurred during the fix.
4.Please tell me of any other symptoms you may be having as these can help also.
5.Please try as much as possible not to run anything while executing a fix.

If you follow these instructions, everything should go smoothly.

:P2P Warning!:

I must draw your attention to the >malwareremoval< policy regarding P2P programs. You must uninstall all P2P programs before I can continue with cleaning your computer.

please remove the following programs:

BitTorrent

*NOTE* Take care when answering any questions posed by an uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into keeping the program.

P2P programs form a direct conduit on to your computer, their security measures are easily circumvented and malware writers are increasingly exploiting them to spread their wares on to your computer. Further to that, if your P2P program is not configured correctly, your computer may be sharing more files than you realise. There have been cases where people's passwords, address books and other personal, private, and financial details have been exposed to a file sharing network by a badly configured program.

If you continue to use P2P programs, we see no purpose in cleaning your machine as it is pretty much certain that, if you continue to use them, your computer will get infected again.

uninstall some programs

  • push the "windows key" + "R" (between the "Ctrl" button and "Alt" Button)
  • please copy and past the following into the box
Code: Select all
appwiz.cpl

  • click ok
  • Right click on each of these programs and select uninstall
      Ask Toolbar
Once finished, close the Programs and Features window

I would like to get a better look at your system, please do the following so I can get some more detailed logs.

DeFogger:

Please download DeFogger to your desktop.

Double click DeFogger to run the tool.
    • The application window will appear
    • Click the Disable button to disable your CD Emulation drivers
    • Click Yes to continue
    • A 'Finished!' message will appear
    • Click OK
    • DeFogger may ask you to reboot the machine, if it does - click OK
Do not re-enable these drivers until otherwise instructed.
IMPORTANT! If you receive an error message while running DeFogger, please post the log defogger_disable which will appear on your desktop.

Download DDS:

Please download DDS by sUBs from one of the links below and save it to your desktop:

    Image
Download DDS and save it to your desktop

    Link1
    Link2
    Link3

Please disable any anti-malware program that will block scripts from running before running DDS.

    • Double-Click on dds.scr and a command window will appear. This is normal.
    • Shortly after two logs will appear:
      • DDS.txt
      • Attach.txt
    • A window will open instructing you save & post the logs
    • Save the logs to a convenient place such as your desktop
    • Copy the contents of both logs & post in your next reply

GMER:

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here.
    • Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop.
    • Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent .
    • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO, then use the following settings for a more complete scan..
    Image
    • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
      • Sections
      • IAT/EAT
      • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
      • Show All (don't miss this one)
    • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
    • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "ark.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop

    **Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

information and logs:

In your next post I need the following

      1.logs from DDS
      2.log from GMER
3.let me know of any problems you may have had
