Hi, Cypher. I just completed another full Malwarebytes scan in order to clean out that last file. I also tried backing up my system, but there remains a problem, and it won't back up. Perhaps it is a hardware failure of some kind. Any suggestions for diagnosing the problem? I'd also like to get your recommendations for keepng a step ahead of malware, as I continue to frequent FB.

All in all, Cypher, you are my new, best friend. I can't thank you enough for getting me out of this pickle and for being such a gentleman (woman?) along with it. That's a rarity these days. From here, I'll back-track and finish downloading the utilities that you've recommended. If any other issues crop up, can I post them here, or should I begin a new thread?

Again, Cypher, thank you ever so much.

Hi briolette.
your most welcome
I also tried backing up my system, but there remains a problem, and it won't back up

You might want to try uninstalling Live OneCare then installing it again to see if that solves the problem.
Or have a look at an alternative.

DriveImage XML V2.13

Back up your files
I'd also like to get your recommendations for keepng a step ahead of malware, as I continue to frequent FB.

From my all clean post ;)

Read some information HERE On how to prevent Malware
If any other issues crop up, can I post them here, or should I begin a new thread?

I will keep this topic open for a couple of days just incase you have any other questions, after that you will have to start a new topic.

On a final note, I really find the directions for creating a new Hosts file verrrrrrrrrrrrry confusing. I understand the concept well enough - the writer's definition is pretty clear - it's the instructions for replacing my existing one that I don't understand. I'll keep at it though, maybe something will connect in my brain.

Alrighty then...have a good weekend, Cypher!!

Update to Hosts File: Found this link with better instructions. Cross your fingers, please, that I did this correctly...au revoir!
