My name is peku006 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.
I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

Please observe these rules while we work:

• Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.

1 - download and run RSIT

• Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
• Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
• Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
• Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt<- (will be maximized) and info.txt<- (will be minimized)

2 - Status Check

1 - Download and Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.

• Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
• Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
• When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
• When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
• Then click Finish.
• MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.
• On the Scanner tab:
  • Make sure the "Perform Full Scan" option is selected.
  • Then click on the Scan button.
• If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
• The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
• When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
• Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
• Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
• The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

problems....my homepage was yahoo, now I am automatically directed to m.yahoo.com, I am able to see this isn't authentic yahoo page. The only way I can retrieve email is bring up yahoo in search, select mail. I am hoping this is authentic, although I don't know how to determine this. If I were to type in "yahoo.com" I am automatically forwarded to m.yahoo.com. system is very slow, pages hang up for a time before clearing. also my printer, without notice or prompting the printer head will suddenly reset , going from side to side.

also would you be able to recommend a book that would help me understand internet security, malware, spyware ,antivirus,firewall,router, hacking etc .

Read some information here how to prevent Malware.

1 - Disable Windows Defender

From your log i can see this that you are running a Windows Defender. This might interfere with fixes we are about to do so we need to disable it. To disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection.

• Open Windows Defender
• Click Tools
• Click General Settings
• Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
• Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
• Close Windows Defender

Note:Once your log is clean you can re-enable Windows Defender Real Time Protection.

1 - Remove bad HijackThis entries

• Run HijackThis
• Click on the Scan button
• Put a check beside all of the items listed below (if present):

You're right, I didn't notice the time/date stamp. I did run it yesterday am (11/7) and that was the log that came up after it was done. I have run it again, 11/8 955am, and I see the same time/date stamp. the following is the log from today 11/8 even though the date says 11/5.

How can I fix my homepage from being sent to "www.m.yahoo.com" ? Is my system safe to log onto secure websites and make purchases with credit or view/use personal information?

Did you do these ?

1 - Disable Windows Defender

From your log i can see this that you are running a Windows Defender. This might interfere with fixes we are about to do so we need to disable it. To disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection.

• Open Windows Defender
• Click Tools
• Click General Settings
• Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
• Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
• Close Windows Defender

Note:Once your log is clean you can re-enable Windows Defender Real Time Protection.

1 - Remove bad HijackThis entries

• Run HijackThis
• Click on the Scan button

yes I did, I did it again, noting that the r1 remained.

Hi Sydney

Download and run OTL

Download OTL by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.

• Double click on OTL.exe to run it.
• Under Output, ensure that Minimal Output is selected.
• Under Extra Registry section, select Use SafeList.
• Click the Scan All Users checkbox.
• Click on Run Scan at the top left hand corner.
• When done, two Notepad files will open.
  
  • OTListIt.txt <-- Will be opened
  • Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized
• Please post the contents of these 2 Notepad files in your next reply.
