New user having a very hard time understanding this site

Unread postby Bill.Finn.Florida » October 23rd, 2009, 11:24 am

Please help me. I cannot figure out how to post anything here. I read the new user info and FAQs, and am still struggling. I don't know what a "room" is , or if I am in the "correct room". I have benn trying to find a place on the internet to help me get Ultimate Bet totally removed from my PC, and especially have it not show up under the "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer, where it is a disabled add-on, but still shows up in the pull down menu. Any help you can give me will be much appreciated. My email address is [obfuscated]
Thank you so much.

Hello and welcome to Malware Removal.

My name is peku006 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.
I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

Please observe these rules while we work:

  • If you don't know or understand something please don't hesitate to ask
  • Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans whilst I am helping you.
  • It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
  • Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
  • Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

Download and run OTL

Download OTL by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double click on OTL.exe to run it.
  • Under Output, ensure that Minimal Output is selected.
  • Under Extra Registry section, select Use SafeList.
  • Click the Scan All Users checkbox.
  • Click on Run Scan at the top left hand corner.
  • When done, two Notepad files will open.
    • OTListIt.txt <-- Will be opened
    • Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized
  • Please post the contents of these 2 Notepad files in your next reply.

Thanks peku006

Now I am concerned about the legitimacy of this site. When I clocked the link below, K9 Web protection won't let me go there because it is "blocked because it is currently categorized as: Spyware / Malware Sources Sites which distribute spyware and other malware. "

There must be a way to solve this without that program. My main concern is simply getting rid of Ultimate Bet from the "Tools" pull down menu in Internet explorer. I don't have the password needed to get by the blocking software to download the program you're asking me to. My wife does, and I don't want to ask her for it. Is there any way you can help me get rid of that reference to Ultimate Bet, which is a disbaled add-on? I used Revo Uninstaller to remove all traces (or so I thought) of Ultimate Bet from my PC. I think the only thing left is this reference, and I really would like to get rid of it. If you cannot help without using that program, do you know of any one who can? Thank you.
