messed up computer posted hijack this

[dman11111]

when i first booted the computer no icons aooeared on the desktop
the only thing that appeared was the desktop pic and the mouse pointer

then i rebooted to last good config and got the icons and everything
back ive posted a hijack this file

this hijack this file was run in regular mode

You do have a bit of a mess here. Let's see what we can do about it.
You have two AntiVirus programs running at once. That is not a good idea.
Choose whether you want Symantec or Avast and uninstall the other using Control panel, Add/Remove Programs

Disable Microsoft Anti-Spyware
- Open Microsoft AntiSpyware.
- Click on Tools, Settings.
- In the left pane, Click on Real-time Protection, System Agent, View System Agent checkpoints.
- In the box on the left labeled System Agent Status, underneath "Status : Active", click on >>Deactivate
- Status should switch to Inactive.
- Click on File, Close

Right Click on the Microsoft Anti-Spyware Icon (red bullseye) in the System Tray in the lower right of the screen
Verify that the pop up entry reads : Security Agents Status (Disabled)

i followed all your instructions wow what an incredible difference

the computer is now stable im posting another hijack for further inspection and clean up

thanks vey much for the assistance this is my friends computer im trying to teach him that he needs proper virus scanning and malware detectors when on the internet

hopefully they wont let it get this bad next time

Set Your Computer to Show All Files
Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. In addition, if you have Windows XP, go to Start, Search. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

Make sure Every other window except HJT is closed (No other tabs showing in the bottom tray), and Click Fix Checked.

Folder Deletion.
In Windows Explorer, Find and Delete these folder(s), if present:
C:\Program Files\MyWebSearch\
C:\Program Files\peoplepc\
Note any folder you cannot delete.
You may have to delete all the underlying files and folders before a target folder can be deleted.
If you have any problem deleting a file, right click the file and check Properties to see if it's read-only. Uncheck the read-only box, click Apply and OK. Then retry Delete.
If a message pops up saying "File in use", or something like that, hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and look under the Processes tab. If the filename is in there, click End Process, then retry delete.
Note the name and location of any file you cannot delete.

Disable WinXP System Restore
Disable your System Restore to remove malware files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs changing them. The only way to erase these files is to temporarily disable System Restore. You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected.
- Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- On the System Restore tab, put a Check mark in the Turn Off System Restore check box.
- Click OK twice, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
If you are not prompted to reboot, do it on your own.

Enable WinXP System Restore
- Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
- On the System Restore tab, Clear the Check mark beside the Turn Off System Restore check box.

The Disable/Re-enable System Restore sequence is not to be done regularly, but only once after the removal of malware.

Secure your Internet Explorer
- From within Internet Explorer, click on the Tools menu and then click on Internet Options.
- Click once on the Security Tab
- Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
- Click once on the Custom Level button.
- Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
- Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
- Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
- Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
- Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to - Prompt
- Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to - Prompt
- Click on the Advanced Tab
- Uncheck the box "Enable Install On Demand (Internet Explorer)"
- Uncheck the box "Enable Install On Demand (Other)"
- When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
- If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
- Press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Options page
