First thanks for providing this service and thanks for your time. My computer has been running a bit slow lately so I ran hijackthis and got a rather long list. I also have a wireless keyboard and it keeps sticking and missing letters, I have replaced the batteries and tried re-syncing it to no success.

Example:
I amtpins an exaple for you at heekeyboard is doing, I have tried eveyting to fix the keyboard and ow thnk itspossibly malwre.

Hi, very sorry for the loooong delay. Please follow these instructions carefully.....


Vista Advice:

All applications I ask to be used will require to be run in Administrator mode. IE: Right click on and select Run as Administrator.

The Operating System(Vista aka Windows 6) in use comes with a inbuilt utility called User Access Control(UAC) when prompted by this with anything I ask you to do carry out please select the option Allow.


Firstly can you please confirm if you intentionally installed the Ask Toolbar? It's fine if you did, just that it has been known to install itself surrepticiously.

Also I have been advised that Ad-Aware can conflict with Defender and so should be uninstalled to prevent any problems. To do so please go to Start >> Control Panel >> Programs and Features and remove the program from there:

To do so click once on the Ad-Aware entry and click on Uninstall/Change and follow the prompts.


F-Secure Blacklight:

Please download Blacklight from here

or

Link to it from the ftp site: ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/tools/fsbl.exe

Save it to C:\ with a name of fsbl.exe

  • Open an Elevated Command Prompt
    • Open the Start Menu.
    • In the white line (Start Search) area, type cmd
    • Press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER.
    • Click on Continue in the UAC prompt
    • Type the following line onto the command prompt
      C:\fsbl.exe /expert
  • Hit Enter
  • This will launch BlackLight
  • Select I accept the agreement
  • Click Next
  • Click Scan
  • Wait for the scan to finish
  • Click on Next>
  • Click Exit
  • A logfile will have been created in the C:\ drive
  • It will be named fsbl-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.log where xxxxxxxxxxxxxx is the date and time of the scan
  • Use notepad to open that log.
  • Post the contents of that log as a reply to this topic.


random's system information tool (RSIT)

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from HERE and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on RSIT.exe to "Run As Administrator" RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open:
    • log.txt (<<will be maximized)
    • info.txt (<<will be minimized)
  • Post both of these logs in your next reply (Sometimes you have to make several posts to get the logs posted.)
