Access Denied keeps popping up, both PC & Internet is slow

My computer was recently hit by a virus that sets up a Temp file on the desktop, with a "Gay Porn" advert on the screen background (http) that I could not remove. It would constantly try to access Outlook Express and the "Safety Centre" Alert flagged up someone attacking the computer saying you must upgrade pay $100. This was obviously a Virus in Microsoft clothing and after a bit of digging I was able to remove the the image, the Temp file which stopped it trying to access Outlook Express.
I ran Sophos and Spybot which found a few Malware files which I have removed and cleaned up.

The problem is that the computer is still running slow and so is the internet (using Internet explorer , and when I am browsing it keeps popping up with "Access denied" Internet explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. etc.
