Common Dreams and What They Mean

Common Dreams and What They Mean
Most times we rarely remember our dreams, but when we do, they can give insights into issues that have become embedded deep within us, and offer solutions to dilemmas we cannot solve while we are conscious. Here are some common dreams that focus on hidden fears with suggested solutions.

When you dream of being chased or falling
This is one of the most common dream situations and is often an indication of a deep seated fear. When you dream of being pursued by an unseen monster and you are afraid, it suggests some secret anxiety that is bothering you. When you dream of falling and there is fear in your heart, it is a clear signal of some kind of insecurity.

In your love life …
This dream often follows a fight or misunderstanding between you and your loved one that is causing you to feel terribly insecure about the relationship. You could be feeling helplessness due to suspicion of infidelity or a fear that your sweetheart or spouse might be thinking of leaving. Should you ever have such a dream, force yourself to turn around and confront whatever monster is chasing you. If you are falling, cushion your fall immediately. This will create a feeling of confidence in your subconscious mind which will have positive effects on your love life.

In your work life …
A dream of falling suggests some major failure or letdown that is causing you anxiety. You might be feeling fearful about a new assignment or new job. Or you could be feeling inferior to your colleagues. When you are able to confront your fears, whether in your dream or conscious state, your confidence levels at work will likewise increase.

When you dream of animals
Domestic or wild, it suggests a yearning to be loved and cared for. You are feeling somehow unloved and even concerned that someone is out to get you. Your ‘victim complex’ is manifesting into dreams of animals.

In your love life …
It suggests loneliness, and shyness that is holding you back from finding your soulmate. You also have a hard time expressing your emotions. If this reflects your situation, get yourself a pet – a dog, cat or a rabbit. Your dream is offering you a perfect solution as your pet will infuse your life with powerful yang energy that translates into good relationship luck.

In your work life …
Your dream is telling you to bond more closely with your colleagues and to suppress your suspicions that someone is politicking against you. It is possible that you feel defensive about someone or something. If this is how you are currently feeling, get the help of a feathered friend. Invest in a rooster image placing it on your desk. This will make you feel better and if there are troublemakers with hidden agendas against you, the rooster will help you overcome such energies.

When you dream of someone famous
This is the ultimate fantasy dream, revealing a hidden desire for some kind of celebrity friendship or lover. It also shows you have hidden ambitions and could be secretly dreaming of achieving fame and fortune.

In your love life …
This kind of dream suggests you are very idealistic, being a perfectionist that sets unrealistic expectations of the person you love and who loves you. This could be a cause for your feelings of dissatisfaction with your love life. Your dream is giving you a timely warning not to let your unrealistic expectations cause you to lose a relationship that means something to you.

In your work life …
Your ambitious nature could be making you unpopular with your colleagues. Or your overconfidence could be making others resentful of you. Your dream is giving you a warning from your subconcious to ease up on the performance one-upmanship. Relax a little more at work and do not come across excessively ambitious. Remember that upward mobility depends on help from others. So heed the warning coming from your dreams.

When you dream of meeting strangers
Its hidden message depends on the gender and age of the person you meet as well as the circumstances under which you meet. This dream does not mean you will meet someone who brings you opportunities. Actually, the stranger is YOU, your hidden personality, the secret YOU who is struggling to emerge.

In your love life …
Such a dream suggests you are feeling stifled in your marriage or love relationship. Your dream is advising you not to be afraid of being yourself. If you are dying to speak your mind about something, do so. Many people suppress their true feelings, afraid to allow their real self to emerge. This is unhealthy and can often be the root cause for severe illness to slowly fester.

In your work life …
You are feeling uncomfortable pretending to be someone you really are not! You could be under the mistaken assumption that you are practising the virtues of hypocracy to get ahead. If this is how you feel, give yourself extra room to be yourself although at the same time it is often beneficial not to reveal too much of yourself.

A dream of flying
This is the ultimate fantasy dream, revealing a hidden desire for some kind of celebrity friendship or lover. It also shows you have hidden ambitions and could be secretly dreaming of achieving fame and fortune.

In your love life …
This dream suggests a feeling of superiority about your relationship. It is likely that your relationship with your spouse or partner is going through a good period. But there is a hidden fear of obstacles emerging to mar your happiness. This dream expresses your realisation that obstacles can suddenly crop up. Better to relax and go with the flow.

In your work life …
Your confidence masks a hidden fear that something could jeopardise your positon or your job. You feel you can see the big picture but there is a nagging fear that you are missing something. Your dream is reassuring you that when and if obstacles do arise, you will be able to deal with them. In the meanwhile, put your mind at rest.

Well, it would mean that you're really hungry and that it's time to wake up and go and get something to munch on :P :P

Maybe you enjoy really good food from those Parisienne restaurants.................................................................

Or it could mean you are missing something in your life and the food is you consuming that which you desire? What else is in the dream? Maybe that will hint to your desires.

I'm not dreaming of eating anything. . .it's just that food seems to have a huge role in my dreams.

Last night, I had a dream of an interesting shallot soup recipe. . .but first I need to figure out how to split a coconut open.

Could be that you know exactly what you want in life but something is in your way? Bearing in mind that i'm just guessing now. Your dreams sound sweet though. Maybe you should find someone who studies dreams and get them to pay you to tell them about them. Instant money maker.

I'll see if I can find all the ingredients for that recipe first! For all I know, that's my cue to start making shallot soup!

(if I pull this off successfully, I'll post the recipe here)

I just finished off a bowl of that soup I saw in my dream. I'll post the recipe before I forget it!

Shallot/Scallop Coconut Cream Soup

4 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
Dash of pepper
Dash of cayenne pepper
1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups chicken stock or a 14 oz can of chicken broth
2 medium shallots, quartered
8 scallops
1 cup coconut milk
Green onion or chives for garnish

In a soup pot, melt and brown 3 tablespoons butter and flour. Add salt, pepper and cayenne pepper. Add milk and chicken broth or stock, and shallots. Cover the pot and leave on medium heat for 7 minutes.

Meanwhile, lightly sautee the scallops with the last tablespoon of butter. Add scallops and coconut milk to soup. Put the cover back on the pot and leave on medium heat for 3 minutes. Garnish with green onion or chives before serving.

EDIT: Couldn't find my coconut, so I had to settle for coconut milk. Also, I'll see how I feel when I wake up tomorrow morning. Good night!
