Windows Explorer Working Very Slowly / Firefox not launching

I am at a loss. I can use all software on my PC (running XP), but when I use Windows Explorer (or other variations like My Computer, My Documents, etc.) to navigate, search for files or to move files around, my computer slows to a &^%$ crawl. I have run a variety of antvirus, spyware, and malware, but to no avail. Also, Firefox (3.5.1) will not launch (related?) Suggestions?
