Unread postby noahdfear » January 7th, 2006, 6:44 pm

smitRem has been updated and uploaded for SpywareStrike removal. Please download a (new) copy from one of the following links.

smitRem.exe

smitRem.exe

Save the file to your desktop. Double click to begin the extraction process, click Start then OK. Reboot to safe mode and logon to your user account. Open the smitRem folder and double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts and allow it to complete, then disk cleanup to run. Reboot back into normal mode and reset your desktop background, theme, etc as desired.

Post the contents of the log C:\smitfiles.txt, along with a new HijackThis log and any comments, as a reply to your original topic.

Bump - stickyed - thanks noahdfear - we all owe you one.

Happy to do it Chris. :)

Yes, Nick's page points to the downloads and the excellent tutorial is still correct.

Time to update my page. LOL!

Hey, i tried running this program in safe-mode, logged on my user account. It loops through the first two Win XP menus. The first one telling you to close it if you don't trust the code, and the second one telling you it's going to empty the recycle bin as well as other things. After that it just loops back to the first one about trusting it, again.

How can I fix this? I have this infection on my computer.

Thanks.

Since SmitRem is not being updated anymore, I am moving this to the archive.

A new tool developed by S!ri called SmitFraudFix is now used to remove SpyAxe, SpyFalcon, MalwareWipe, Pest Trap, and all of the other spyware that uses the fake warning pop up like these:

I have a post at my blog on how to use the new SmitFraudFix removal tool.
