I have downloaded the Antivir and the desktop [b]DDS.

I'm not sure if my problems are hardware, software or internet...or all!

I have been having issues with slow window starts, while on the internet my pages are loading slower. Online video or streaming is very slow. Overall, the performance of my computer does not seem at it's norm. I have not taken any actions as of yet besides running Hijackthis.

Doing a reformat and reinstall, would be the safest way to clean your system, and would guarantee that all the infection is gone, trying to clean it would take probably twice as long
and There is NO GUARANTEE it will be clean, also as it has been online without a AV we would NEVER KNOW of all the damage done.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but a reformat is the best way to go for your sake.

The re-format process will wipe the computer's hard drive clean, destroying all data and programs installed, so please make sure you back-up all data before re-formatting
the computer's hard drive. This includes address books, email accounts, documents, music, settings, saved games, and anything else not obsolete.

With reference to passwords, if you have been using this system for banking etc, Go to a clean computer and change ALL your online passwords --

Make sure you have the Install files and keycodes for Windows, printers, and all your software..

You are going to need to backup things like, Hardware drivers, email accounts, address book and contacts, photos, doc's and anything that does not get reinstalled with windows

Whatever you backup, once you have re-installed windows and added all security programs, just give the backups a scan before you copy it back to your clean system



Physically unplug the computer from the Internet before re-formatting.
Do not go back online untill you are protected by a hardware firewall, NAT router, or a software firewall, and have Installed a ANTIVIRUS, or you can be infected in a few seconds
Then visit the windows updates and download install all Critical updates, keep revisting untill all are downloaded and installed.


Here is some tools to install once you are reformatted, download them, save them to a CD/DVD or drive, then install them before you go back online

Please Download HostsXpertand unzip it to your computer, somewhere where you can find it. The root of the system drive would be a ideal location EG: C:\

• Double click on HostsXpert.exe to launch the programme.
• Check to see if top button on left hand side says Make Writable?
  
  • If it does. click on it then proceed to next instruction.
  • If not, just proceed to next instruction
• Click on Restore MS Hosts File to restore your Hosts file to its default condition
• When prompted to confirm, click OK.
• Click on the Download button (lower left hand side)
  
  • Click on MVPs Hosts... button.
  • Click on Replace button.
  • Press OK in the box that pops up. (HostsXpert will now download and update your Hosts file)
• When finished.
  
  • Click on File Handling button.
  • Click on Make Read Only? to secure it against infection.
• Exit the programme.
