freddie,
For some reason, McAfee has trouble removing this.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Retrieve the List of Installed programs Using HJT
Open HijackThis, click Open The Misc Tools Section. Then scroll down the list if you need to, click Open Uninstall Manager and Save List...
The List of installed programs will automatically be saved as uninstall_list.txt in your HiJackThis folder. In addition, the list opens in Notepad so you can also save as another name in another location if you wish. Please paste the contents into your next reply.
Click the "X" in the upper right corner of the HiJackThis window to close it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
Please download the Installer and save to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to both Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • If necessary, start Malwarebytes Anti-Malware again.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform Quick Scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked if it found any malware items, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location, and post the contents in your reply.
  • The log can also be found here if you need it : Start, All Programs, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, Logs
The logs are named by date stamp
So we are looking for the Installed programs list from HiJackThis, and the Malwarebytes log.
Use separate posts if you prefer.

freddie,
We will Uninstall all the old versions of Java, and your Adobe Reader.
They are vulnerable to malicious exploits.
Then we will download a new version of Reader and Run a scanner which will provide much more information about your machine.
Is it possible your Router has been hacked to pass your traffic thru an unauthorized server? This would not show in your PC. It's more likely if you still have a default router password.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Remove Programs Using Control Panel(XP)
From Start, Settings, Control Panel or Start, Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
Highlight each Entry, as follows, one by one, if it exists, and choose Remove :
Adobe Reader 8.1.3
Java(TM) 6 Update 2
Java(TM) 6 Update 3
Java(TM) 6 Update 5
Java(TM) 6 Update 7

Take extra care in answering questions posed by any Uninstaller. Some questions may be worded to deceive you into Keeping the program.
Do not Uninstall Java(TM) 6 Update 13. Keep that one.
--------------------------------------------------------
Download the Newest Version of Adobe Reader
  • Go here and click on AdbeRdr910_en_US.exe to download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  • Save this file to your desktop and run it to install the latest version of Adobe Reader.

-----------------------------------------------------------
REBOOT Your Machine
-----------------------------------------------
Run the RSIT Scanner
Please download the Scanner http://images.malwareremoval.com/random/RSIT.exe and save it to your desktop. The icon will be named RSIT.exe
Doubleclick the RSIT icon.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open
log.txt <- this one will be maximized
info.txt <- this one will be minimized
( Default location for both files is C:\rsit\ )
Copy/Paste the contents of both log.txt and info.txt into your next post please. Use two posts if you prefer.

freddie,
-----------------------------------------------------------
File Deletion
In Windows Explorer (My Computer), navigate to the folder shown below, select View, Details, highlight the listed file only, and press Delete. Be careful not to delete any file without double-checking the exact spelling of the filename.

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\neokdss.sys <== this file only

If you have any problem deleting a file, right click the file and choose Properties to see if it's read-only. Uncheck the read-only box, click Apply and OK. Then retry Delete.
If a message pops up saying "File in use", or something like that, hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and look under the Processes tab. If the exact filename is in there, highlight it and click End Process, then retry Delete.
Please Note the name and location of any item you cannot delete or find.
-----------------------------------------------------------

You should go into the administrator site/account for your router and look at the IP addresses it shows, to make sure they are for your Internet provider only.
This site may be helpful: http://ip-lookup.net/

-----------------------------------------------------------
Download Blacklight from here:
http://www.f-secure.com/security_center/
Under "Downloads", click on Blacklight and Save it to your Desktop
or
Link to it from the ftp site: ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/tools/fsbl.exe
and save it to your desktop from there.

Go to Start-->Run, copy in the following text, and press Enter:
"%userprofile%\desktop\fsbl.exe" /expert

Accept the license agreement.
Click > scan, wait for it to fimish, then click Close

There will be a log on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx stand for numbers).
Copy and paste the contents of this log into your next reply.

I cannot find
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\neokdss.sys
I have looked in that drivers folder but it is not there.

freddie,
Let's try one additional thing:
---------------------------------------------------
MBR Rootkit Detector:
Please download The MBR Rootkit Detector by GMER
Be sure to download it to the root of your drive, e.g. directly to C:\mbr.exe

Once the download has finished, click Start > Run. Copy and paste the following into the run box, then click OK:
Code: Select all
c:\mbr

A log will be generated in the C: drive as C:\mbr.log or C:\mbr.txt
Please open it with Notepad and post the contents in your next reply.

freddie,
As far as I can determine, you have no malware on your machine.

If your machine performance is satisfactory, good.

If you have remaining difficulties, I would suggest posting at a systems and hardware forum for assistance.

Good System/Hardware Help Forums
