I will be completing all tasks that you have told me i should do within the next few hours. The reason there were multi postings was because i discovered this website last. I havent posted anywhere else since i found this website. I wasnt aware that posting on different websites would be a problem.

Hope you can still help.

Still very happy to help, post the results when done, just let the other forum know, before a helper spends hours searching you logs.

Hi shulacu

Please do not attach your logs to your post. Instead, copy and paste it into the body of the post
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=41055

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of a P2P (Person to Person) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

uTorrent

Please read the Guidelines for P2P Programs where we explain why it's not a good idea to have them.

Note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.

Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the programs listed above (in red) NOW.

Please confirm that you have removed it.

You are operating your computer with multiple Anti Virus programs running in memory at once:

AVG Free 8.0 and Norton Internet Security, which contains a Antivirus

Anti-virus programs take up an enormous amount of your computer's resources when they are actively scanning your computer.
Having two anti-virus programs running at the same time will cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and crash.

Please Go to add/remove programs and remove one, If Norton is up to date with a paid subscription I would keep
that as it giving you your firewall as well, if not and it's out of date keep avg.

Please post a new Hijackthis Log

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer. This is a two step process.

First step:
  • Right-click the Spybot Icon in the System Tray (looks like a blue/white calendar with a padlock symbol)
  • If you have the new version 1.5, Click once on Resident Protection, then Right click the Spybot icon again and make sure Resident Protection is now Unchecked. The Spybot icon in the System tray should now be now colorless.
  • If you have Version 1.4, Click on Exit Spybot S&D Resident
Second step, For Either Version :
  • Open Spybot S&D
  • Click Mode, choose Advanced Mode
  • Go To the bottom of the Vertical Panel on the Left, Click Tools
  • then, also in left panel, click Resident shows a red/white shield.
  • If your firewall raises a question, say OK
  • In the Resident protection status frame, Uncheck the box labeled Resident "Tea-Timer"(Protection of over-all system settings) active
  • OK any prompts.
  • Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot
  • Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.

Download and run Combofix

ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:
Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Very Important!, before running CombofixEnsure you have Temporarily disabled your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan.
They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".

    AVG
Please open the AVG Control Center program -> double-click on the "AVG Resident Shield" component (looks like this: Image) -> deselect the "Turn on AVG Resident Shield" checkmark and save the setting.

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Image

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Image

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you.

Once your system has rebooted enable the AVG Resident Shield
open the AVG Control Center program -> double-click on the "AVG Resident Shield" component -> select the "Turn on AVG Resident Shield" checkmark and save the setting.

Please Post back the log below so we can continue cleaning the system.

Re: Hijack This Log.

Unread postby DFW » May 20th, 2009, 8:58 am

Open up Hijackthis
Click on do a system scan only.
Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present)

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {9ECB9560-04F9-4bbc-943D-298DDF1699E1} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - (no file)

Then close all windows except Hijackthis and click Fix Checked

I'd like you to check (a file/some files) for Viruses.
c:\windows\system32\d3d9caps.dat
c:\windows\sto453189.dat

  • Copy/Paste the first file on the list into the white Upload a file box.
  • Click Send/Submit, and the file will upload to VirusTotal, where it will be scanned by several anti-virus programmes.
  • After a while, a window will open, with details of what the scans found.
  • Note details of any viruses found.
  • Repeat for all files on the list, and post me the details please.

    • Now please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

      Code: Select all
      DirLook::
      C:\FOUND.002
      C:\FOUND.001
      C:\FOUND.000

    • Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

      Image

    • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
    • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
    • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Please Post back the log below so we can continue cleaning the system.

So, the results of the file scan were both negative. 0 outta 40 on both...

Ok, that good then.

Open up Hijackthis
Click on do a system scan only.
Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present)

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = http=localhost:7171
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local;<local>

Then close all windows except Hijackthis and click Fix Checked

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.

Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) .
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp
Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment JRE 6 Update 13 allows end-users to run Java applications".
Click the "Download" button to the right.
Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.

Update Adobe Reader

  1. Please uninstall Adobe Reader 7 before installing the latest version by going to Start > Control Panel and double clicking on Add/Remove Programs. Locate Adobe Reader 7 and click on Change/Remove to uninstall it.
  2. Click here to download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
  3. Select your Windows version and click on Download. If you are using Internet Explorer, you will receive prompts. Allow the installation to be ran and it will be installed automatically for you.

If you are using other browsers, it will prompt you to save a file. Save this file to your desktop and run it to install the latest version of Adobe Reader.
  4. Close your Internet browser and open it again.

If you don't like Adobe Reader, you can download Foxit PDF Reader from here. It's a much smaller file to download and uses a lot less resources than Adobe Reader.
Note: When installing FoxitReader, be carefull not to install anything to do with AskBar.

Reboot your system

Please download ATF Cleaner here by Atribune.

  • Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

    If you use Opera browser

  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE: If you would like to keep your cookies and saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

This could take some time depending on how much data is on your harddrives

  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
  6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  9. Please post this log in your next reply.

Hey there,

So heres the update:
Basically everything is running alot smoother, load times are quicker and things in general are pretty sweet. However the problem to which i originally wanted fixed is still hanging around, and the kaspersky found a trojan.

So the problem of when i connect to the internet (wireless connection) instead of going to my normal homepage it diverts to either of the following:

http://storage.conduit.com/57/139/CT139 ... 456250.gif
http://storage.conduit.com/57/139/CT139 ... 818750.gif

I have no idea where it came from or anything, hence why im here still lol
Now here are the hijackthis log and kaspersky log
