slow, error messages, .dll stuff...

Hi. I've been having some trouble. My comp has been running slowly, being unresponsive, and closing the browser when I was in Yahoo. I did a system restore. That seemed to fix one part of it, the unresponsiveness. I tried to defrag it, but it said I didn't have enough disk space, so I thought I may be able to clear out some of the junk I never use. I still didn't have enough space, so i didn't defrag it. I noticed my itunes wasn't opening up when I plugged my ipod in. when I tried to open it I got a message about something being wrong with Quiktime. I tried repairing it, uninstalling it and reinstallinging it. now i just get a message that itunes had to close unexpectedly and it never opens. And now just today i tried to open Internet Explorer and it won't open. I see the window, but the colors are wrong and then it just closes, no message or anything. I don't know if it related or not, but whenever I start my comp I get a file opening on it's own with .dll files. I came here last year about that and someone walked me through fixing it. I was supposed to follow through with additional security on my comp, but I didn't because of financial stuff at the time. I'm fully ready to get it this time around.
Sorry all that was so rambling, it just seems like it's doing one thing after another the last few days!
