windows update failure

Unread postby Jen » April 2nd, 2009, 10:38 am

Hello,

Here is my issue.

I am unable to update windows or windows defender. I have ran through the troubleshooting guides without success. Norton 360 gives me a clean bill of health. However when i have searched the error code 80244019 it is listed on postings as a trojan virus. I am also seeing popups when online. I am running IE7.0. The computer has also lost performance and it appears that certain administrative privlages have also been lost. I know enough about computers to know there is a problem but not enough to know how to fix it. I was unable to direclty download the windows malicious software tool but was able to run it via tranfer using a usb jump drive. It also found no issues. I have also tried windows updates in "safe mode with networking" but I am not able to acces the internet.

Windows full sevice scan showed the following:
Quick Scan - No infections found
Full Service Scan -

I dowloaded HijackThis. Here is what came up when I ran a scan only.
