You're welcome, glad I could help.

I'm a little concerned that AdAware found things to remove, have you got Search for Negligible Risk Entries checked? (to see if you have, open AdAware, then click on Start the Negligible Risk radio button is towards the bottom of the box). It's best to leave this unchecked, it only really detects usage lists.

Can you run another AdAware scan, with the Negligible Risks button unchecked, and tell me if it finds anything.

As for IE spyad, it unzips files to C:\IESpyad folder.

Look in the folder for install.bat, and double click on it. A window will open up offering various options. Type 2 followed by 1- Yes install IE Spyad to install IE Spyad. It will take a while to install, then you should get a success message, and options to exit the programme.

Hope this helps. If you need further clarification, just post here.

Happy New Year to you as well.

Hi Swanny,

Doesn't sound like you've got any outstanding Malware problems, but does sound as if you may have some issues with your Hardware.

Can't really help you out too much with those I'm afraid.

As for IE Spyad, try doing a search for install.bat.

Click on Start>Search>All Files and Folders to bring up the search dialogue box. Then click on More Advanced Options, and check the following options, Search System Folders, Search Hidden Files and Folders, Search Sub Folders.

Now in the box titled All or part of the File name: type Install.bat

If that doesn't find it, you've probably had some sort of download problem, and it probably isn't on your computer.

IF it finds the file, note its location, then double click on it in the list to open it.

Let me know how things went.

Hi Swanny,

I presume you have found the install.bat file, it should be inside a folder IE Spyad in which case to install it, follow the instructions in my earlier post.

It's best if this folder is in the following default location C:\IE Spyad, however this is not essential to the install, just as long as you know how to find it again for future use.

Will need more info on the other things you found before I can give any advice.

Hi Swanny,

Can you send me a new HJT log please, and can you also send me a Startup List (instructions below). Can you also run a scan with Ewido, and send me the log from that as well.

Creating a Startup List

Open HJT, and click on Config followed by Misc Tools.
Now check List also minor sections (full) and List empty sections (complete) before clicking on Generate StartUpList log.

A window will open asking for permission to create a log, answer Yes.

Notepad will open a text file, Save it please. By default it will be named startuplist.txt and saved to your HJT folder.

Oops almost forgot, can you also send me an Uninstall List as well.

Creating an Uninstall List

Open HJT, and click on Config, followed by Misc Tools.

Now click on Open Uninstall Manager, and then click on Save List.

This will create a file uninstall_list.txt and prompt you to save it to your HJT folder. Save it please.

OK Swanny, we'll deal with each log one at a time. First the Startup List.

Double click on HJT to open it.

Click on Don't show this frame again when I start Hijack This then
Click on None of the above just start the program.

There are 2 buttons, Config and Info side by side in the bottom right hand corner. Click on the Config button.

Now click on Misc Tools.
Now check List also minor sections (full) and List empty sections (complete) before clicking on Generate StartUpList log.

A window will open asking for permission to create a log, answer Yes.

Notepad will open a text file, Save it please, by clicking File then Save. By default it will be named startuplist.txt and saved to your HJT folder.

Can you send me this list please.

To do this, open the startuplist.txt file, found in your HJT folder. Now click Edit then Select All. Now click Edit followed by Copy. Then open your post here and click Edit then Paste.

If you have any difficulties, please explain carefully where you are having problems.

Thanks, Gary.

OK,

Can't see anything of concern there, can you now send me an Uninstall List please.

Creating an Uninstall List

Open HJT, and click on Config, followed by Misc Tools.

Now click on Open Uninstall Manager, and then click on Save List.

This will create a file uninstall_list.txt and prompt you to save it to your HJT folder. Save it please.

Now run a HJT scan and send me the log as well.

Thanks, Gary

Hi Swanny,

OK, you're looking clear on all the logs so far.

One item of concern. In your earlier HJT log you had an entry F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=explorer.exe "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ibm00001.exe" , which was an indicator of a Keylogging programme. It seems to have been removed successfully, but may have left traces behind that we need to check for.

Click on My Computer, then on the C: Drive symbol, followed by the Windows Folder.
Now scroll down, and look for the system.ini file.
Right click this, and then click on Open With to bring up a list of programmes. Select Notepad, and click OK. (Please make sure that Always use the selected programme to open this type of file is unchecked.)

This will open a Notepad file with the contents of system.ini. Copy and paste this in your next post.

Can you do the same with the win.ini file, which is also found in the Windows Folder.

Thanks,

Gary.

PS. Because you have had a keylogger on your machine, any sensitive data has probably been compromised. If you have used your computer for online banking, or for credit card purchases, you would be well advised to contact your bank and/or credit card company to check for unusual transactions, possibly you may need to change your accounts, your bank/credit card company will advise you.

Sorry I seemed to have overlooked this matter, I should have advised you earlier.
