Sometimes my computer has a major lag and the CPU of the program in question, (can be any program) shoots up to arround 90 while I didn't do anything special with it. I've been having this for a couple of months now, but my computer works fine exept the lag sometimes

Thanks already ;)

EDIT: removed p2p program utorrent
EDIT2: Whilst looking through other topic, I noticed that in most of them was a "uninstall list" so I added that.
EDIT3: It is a dual boot Vista and XP (also had windows 7 on it but removed that a couple of months ago)

Welkom, koekjestrommel :D

I'm Odd dude (OD for short) and I'll help you remove any infections you may have.

It is not looking bad, if you don't mind I do have a couple of questions.
  • Why do you think you are infected?
  • What firewall do you use?
  • Do you use this pc for business purposes?

Open hijackthis, click do a system scan only, put a check next to this, click fix checked:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE
Allow the prompt from teatimer.

Post next the answers to my questions :)

Hey OD, thanks for helping :)
I deleted the line you asked for, and just a little question,
I already googled on ALCMTR.EXE, and it turns out that is a realtek program/service?
why should it be deleted since it just is a Realtek program/service?
Just interested, that's all ;)

* Why do you think you are infected?
I never posted my HJT log somewhere, so I never knew wheter I was the slightest bit infected or not.
* What firewall do you use?
I downloaded Zone Alarm 2 days ago, and allowed all the programs that needed connection to the internet, and all the program were programs that I installed myself, so nothing suspicious so far. Before that I just used the Windows firewall.
* Do you use this pc for business purposes?
Only have a PayPal account which I use on this computer. And I log in on my bank account, but you can't do anything with it because you need special codes that are only on paper. So I don't use it for business purposes.

New lists are included :)

Thanks again (Cesko?)

Don't attach logs - downloading them is a real pain - for both me and any trainee who may be following this.

ALCMTR is from Realtek, yes. But it is also spyware which sends detailed data regarding your activity back to its originators to allow 'improvement' to be made. By the definition of spyware we utilize, it is spyware. Therefore, it ought to be removed, but not deleted, as deleting the file will screw up your sound card. So this entry should only be fixed in HJT.

Reports are looking fine, however you should use Java's internal updater program to update your Java.

Otherwise, any issues with the PC?

Hi OD,

however you should use Java's internal updater program to update your Java.

How would I do that?

No issues with the PC 8)

Thanks :D

There should be an orange icon of the Java teacup in your system tray. Click that to update.
Otherwise use the Java configuration applet in the Control Panel.

Would you like tips to prevent malware attacks in the future?

Recommended Programs

I would recommend the download and installation of some or all of the following programs (if not already present), and the updating of them on a regular basis.

* WinPatrol
As a robust security monitor, WinPatrol will alert you to hijackings, malware attacks and critical changes made to your computer without your permission. WinPatrol takes snapshot of your critical system resources and alerts you to any changes that may occur without your knowledge. For more information, please visit HERE.
* Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is an anti-malware application that can thoroughly remove even the most advanced malware. It includes a number of features, including a built in protection monitor that blocks malicious processes before they even start. You can download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from HERE. Here are two tutorials: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Setup Guide and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Scanning Guide.
* Hosts File
For added protection you may also like to add a host file. A simple explanation of what a Hosts file does is HERE and for more information regarding host files read HERE.
* Use an alternative Internet Browser
Many of the exploits are directed to users of Internet Explorer. Try using a different browser instead: Firefox or Opera

Already got all those programs :)
And my java was updated :s

Thanks for your help :)
Really appreciate the work you are doing :D

Looks like you already have some good prevention tips :)

The Java thing is rather strange, I could've sworn update 12 was out.

Please manually download and install the latest version from here. The site is a bit confusing; this is what you should do:
  • Scroll down to where it says Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 12.
  • Click the Download button to the right.
  • Choose the correct Platform. Also, check the box that says I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement.
  • Now, click Continue.
  • Click on the filename under Windows Offline Installation and save it to your desktop.
  • Now, close all other windows. Including Internet Explorer.
  • You can now install Java by double-clicking the executable you just downloaded.

Now go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and see if Java 6 update 11 is still showing. If it is, remove it as you will just have installed update 12.

EDIT: got it from this location:

Installing it now.

EDIT2: installation worked, I guess I'm free to go now?
Thanks again :D
