You need to address my posts fully otherwise we are not going to get anywhere and it's going to take forever to get your machine back to normal.
Can you continue with the rest of my post please.
And post reports.
I have tried removing java but when i try to uninstall i receive the following error.
Shoul i try to remove from c drive directly?
Download the new java to your desktop first. Remove older versions via add and remove in control panel.
Now install your new java version.

Hi Dan

Can you not see what i have coppied and pasted on last message?please see below(If you can't we have a problem)

---------------------------
Add or Remove Programs
---------------------------
Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.

---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

I have installed new version of Java but still can't remove old versions from Add remove programs.
I receive this error and it won't remove.

I am trying to do as you ask but i can't if my p.c won't let me.
I'm sorry but i'm not an expert like you, hence why i need help.
So you help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

I appreciate that, that's why I'm helping you :)

Don't worry about the java at the moment we can deal with that later.
Did you delete CiD Help ?

how far did you get with the following from that post:

Download to your Desktop FixPolicies.exe, a self-extracting ZIP archive from here: http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/BillCastner/FixPolicies.exe
  • Double-click FixPolicies.exe.
  • Click the "Install" button on the bottom toolbar of the box that will open.
  • The program will create a new Folder called FixPolicies.
  • Double-click to Open the new Folder, and then double-click the file within: Fix_Policies.cmd.
  • A black box should briefly appear and then close. This will enable your Control Panel and stop the Administrative warnings, at least until the malware infection resets the registry policy keys again. You can run this as many times as you like. A permanent fix requires removing the infection.

Download and Run OTMoveIt3

Download OTMoveIt3 by Old Timer and save it to your Desktop.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt3.exe. (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit3.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below.
Code: Select all
:files
c:\windows\system32\REN17.tmp
c:\windows\system32\REN16.tmp
c:\windows\system32\REN15.tmp

  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3

Hi, Ruth, your not a nightmare :)

download this zipfile to your desktop.
Unzip it. Then RIGHTCLICK the VArestorepolicies.inf and select to Install from the Context menu.

[*]Start HijackThis
[*]Click on the Misc Tools button
[*]Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.[/list]
You will see a list with the programs installed in your computer.
Click on save list button and specify where you would like to save this file.
When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file.
Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad into your next post.

post a fresh HJT log and uninstall list.

Hi, Ruth,
Did you carry out this post here

Start > Run, type appwiz.cpl and click OK.

Uninstall the following:

Adobe Reader 8.1.2
Java(TM) 6 Update 5
Java(TM) 6 Update 7

Now close Control Panel.

Your Adobe Acrobat Reader is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.

Adobe Reader is a large program and uses unnecessary space.
If you prefer a smaller program you can get Foxit 3.0 from http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php << Recommended

There is a newer version of Adobe Acrobat Reader available.
  • Please go to this link Adobe Acrobat Reader Download Link
  • Click Download
  • On the right Untick Adobe Phototshop Album Starter Edition if you do not wish to include this in the installation.
  • Click the Continue button
  • Click Run, and click Run again
  • Next click the Install Now button and follow the on screen prompts

Note for Vista Users: Eset is compatible but Internet Explorer must be run as Administrator. To do this, right-click on the IE icon in the Start Menu or Quick Launch Bar on the Taskbar and select "Run as Administrator" from the context menu.

Please go to Eset website to perform an online scan. Please use Internet Explorer as it uses ActiveX.

  1. Check (tick) this box: YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
  2. Click on the Start button next to it.
  3. When prompted to run ActiveX. click Yes.
  4. You will be asked to install an ActiveX. Click Install.
  5. Once installed, the scanner will be initialized.
  6. After the scanner is initialized, click Start.
  7. Uncheck (untick) Remove found threats box.
  8. Check (tick) Scan unwanted applications.
  9. Click on Scan.
  10. It will start scanning. Please be patient.

Is this what you were looking for?

Tried removing Adobe, but i recieve an error which i can't copy and paste.
It sounds like p.c Jargon! so it basically is saying i have to find an alternative path.
Sorry but if there is a way i can paste other than ctl C then V please let me know.

I have tried removing Java and recieve the following error again.

---------------------------
Add or Remove Programs
---------------------------
Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid.

---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Is there any end in sight with this? ??

Thanks once again.

Ruth I didn't ask for an uninstall list. :)

I asked....Did you carry out this post here

which you haven't replied to.
I can only help if I get help from yourself too, things will move quicker if I get replies to my questions.

----------

This is your initial log with your brief description

Please see hi jack log posted below.
I have manged to clear some of the virus but i am a bit stuck now.
It seems that my passwirds are being obtained from web sites so i need to stop this a.s.a.p
I have anti virus on my p.c so not sure why this is happening.

What exactly did you manage to clear what actions did you take what programs did you use etc.

When you run into problems like this it's a process of elimination
I can't say at this point if the end is in sight as still trying to establish your problems,I can only do that with feed back from yourself to questions I ask. :)

Hi

If you mean the VA restore zip file that you asked me to download.
Yes i did and the only note pad that came up was as below which i posted.
It wouldn't work quite as you advised so i just right clicked and unzipped as that was the only function near to that.
I am realy confused now as i feel you are getting frustrated and i have carried out what you have asked.

I am very greatfull for your time and afforts, but please don't shout at me for not understanding some instructions.
If you don't want to carry on helping me then i understand.

Thanks

Ruth

This is the first post with this information I have had.

I'm not frustrated Ruth, I'm here to help, however, if I ask a question I really need a reply to try and help you. :)

Nobody is shouting Ruth :)

Can you give me some feed back on what fixes you ran and whether you used HJT, as I asked in my last post please.

Ruth, why have you run sdfix again? yes, I asked at the begining to run sdfix but that's all it was needed for.
I need you to tell me, what fixes you ran and whether you used HJT, prior to asking for help at this forum.
Hope this clarifies and confirms that we are nearly there.
I have mentioned before that I'm trying to establish why your log is a lot shorter than at the begining. To do this I need help from you, then we may be able to address this situation and move on and give you the all clear. :)
