We have some work to do.

Step 1
We need to disable Ewido Guard Realtime Monitor as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  1. Open Ewido by double-clicking the yellow 'e' icon in the system tray.
  2. In the 'Your security status' section, toggle the Ewido Guard realtime protection 'off' by clicking 'active' which will then change the protection status to 'inactive'.
  3. When you reboot, Ewido will prompt you to "Restart the guard?".
  4. Reply 'no' and set it to 'inactive' for the duration of your cleanup.
Step 2
We need to disable your Microsoft AntiSpyware Realtime Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  1. Rightclick on the Microsoft Anti-Spyware tray icon by your clock (it's the one with the red and yellow bulls-eye).
  2. Click on "Security Agents Status".
  3. Click on "Disable realtime protection".
Open Microsoft Anti-Spyware.
  1. Click on the Options menu, then Settings.
  2. Select "Realtime Protection" from the left column.
  3. Uncheck "Enable (MSAS) Security Agents" and "Enable realtime spyware threat protection".
  4. Click the Save button.
  5. Rightclick on the MSAS tray icon, select "Shutdown Microsoft Anti-Spyware".
  6. Click "Yes" in the dialog box that comes up.
  7. After all of the fixes are complete, it is very important that you enable Realtime Protection again.
Step 3
This tool has been updated recently to include SpyAxe removal.

Please download smitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the file to extract it to its own folder on the desktop.

Step 4
Please place a shortcut to Panda ActiveScan on your desktop.

Step 5
Please read the Ewido Setup Instructions
Update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

Step 6
If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:
Ad-Aware SE Setup
Don't run it yet!

Step 7
Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
  1. Restart your computer
  2. After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  3. Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  4. Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Step 8
Now scan with HJT and place a check mark next to each of the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Generic Proc] procmsg.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Windows Generic Proc] procmsg.exe

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows Generic Proc] procmsg.exe

O16 - DPF: {FFFF0003-0001-101A-A300-000000000000} - http://icalendari2005.altervista.org/calendari.exe

O23 - Service: NTBOOTMGR (NTBOOT) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DRIVER\ntuser.exe

O23 - Service: NTLOAD - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\DRIVER\ntsrv.exe

Close HijackThis.

Step 9
Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Step 10
Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Step 11
Run Ewido:
  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • NOTE: During some scans with Ewido, it is finding cases of false positives.
  • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
  • If Ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
  • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
  • If you are unsure of any entry found, select none for now.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
  • Save the report to your desktop.
  • Close Ewido.
Step 12
Go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Step 13
Reboot back into Windows and click the Panda ActiveScan shortcut.
  • Once you are on the Panda site, click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open. Click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component, allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
Step 14
Please post
  • the contents of the Panda scan report
  • a new HijackThis Log
  • the contents of smitfiles.txt
  • the Ewido Log.
Let us know if any problems persist.

Good job! Your log is looking better. We have some more cleaning to do.

You may want to print out this page. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Step 1
Your scan showed one of more viruses in your Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE) cache. Delete those by clearing the JRE cache.
To clear the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) cache:
  • Click Start > Control Panel.
  • Doubleclick the Java icon in the control panel.
    -The Java Control Panel appears.
  • Click Settings under Temporary Internet Files.
-The Temporary Files Settings dialog box appears.
  • Click Delete Files.
-The Delete Temporary Files dialog box appears.
-There are three options on this window to clear the cache.
    • Delete Files
    • View Applications
    • View Applets
  • Click OK on Delete Temporary Files window.
-Note: This deletes all the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the cache.
  • Click OK on Temporary Files Settings window.
  • Close the Java Control Panel
You can view those instructions along with graphics Here

Step 2
We need to disable Ewido Guard Realtime Monitor as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
  1. Open Ewido by double-clicking the yellow 'e' icon in the system tray.
  2. In the 'Your security status' section, toggle the Ewido Guard realtime protection 'off' by clicking 'active' which will then change the protection status to 'inactive'.
  3. When you reboot, Ewido will prompt you to "Restart the guard?".
  4. Reply 'no' and set it to 'inactive' for the duration of your cleanup.
Step 3
Step 4
We are going to stop, disable, and delete a service.
  1. Select "Start"
  2. Choose "Control Panel"
  3. Choose "Administrative Tools"
  4. Note: in Windows XP Home edition, Administrative Tools is in Performance and Maintenance
  5. Choose "Services"
  6. Rightclick on NTBOOTMGR or NTBOOT
  7. Select "Stop" You will see a message that Windows is attempting to stop the service
  8. When it finishes, rightclick on NTBOOTMGR or NTBOOT.
  9. Select "Properties"
  10. Change "Startup Type" to "Disabled"
  11. Click "OK"
  12. Start HijackThis
  13. Click "Config" button
  14. Click "Misc Tools" button
  15. Click "Delete an NT Service" button
  16. Copy and Paste the bold text below in the "Delete an NT Service" window
    NTBOOT
  17. Click "OK"
  18. Close HijackThis
Step 5
Please download Cleanup! CleanUp! is a powerful and easy to use application that removes temporary files created while surfing the web, empties the Recycle Bin, deletes files from your temporary folders and more. Open CleanUp!, click on Options. Make sure that the following are checked:
  1. Empty Recycle Bins
  2. Delete cookies
  3. Delete Prefetch files
  4. Scan local drives for temporary files
  5. CleanUp! All Users
The others are optional. Do not run it yet.
*IMPORTANT NOTE*
CleanUp deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders; it does not make backups.
If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp!.
If needed, a tutorial on How to use CleanUp! to protect your privacy

Step 6
Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) Do not worry if they are not there:

Viewpoint If you choose to do the optional fix.

Viewpoint Manager If you choose to do the optional fix.

Viewpoint Media Player If you choose to do the optional fix.

Use 'ctrl' + 'alt' + 'del' (Three keys together) to get task manager. Find these processes and 'end task' them.
OR]
Use the process viewer in HijackThis, Open the Misc Tools Section then Open Process Manager, find these programs and “kill processâ€

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files and DELETE them (Do not worry if they are not there):

C:\!KillBox\ioctrl.cmd
C:\!KillBox\ntsuse.jpg
C:\!KillBox\ntsuse.jpg.exe

Adware:Adware/SpyAxe Not disinfected C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\Quarantine\6B4A0204-05E0-4997-AB6F-480DA6\E9BD60B5-0D78-4B07-AF63-B8DE4A

These files are in quarantine by Microsoft AntiSpyware so they will not be a problem.

It is important that you enable any protection program that you disabled in order to do the fixes.

Restore Settings For Hidden Files and Folders
  1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
  2. Doubleclick on the My Computer icon.
  3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  4. After the new window appears, select the View tab.
  5. Click the button labeled Restore Defaults.
  6. Click the OK button and close My Computer.
  7. Your computer is reconfigured to NOT show all hidden files.
I see you have Norton Anti-Virus which comes as a part of Norton Internet Security which contains a firewall. It is difficult to tell if you have the Norton Internet Security Suite with the firewall or just the Norton Anti‑virus program. If you have just the Norton Anti-virus program, I recommend you get a firewall in addition to the Windows SP2 firewall. There are a few available for free that appear to be good and easy to use:

Outpost Firewall Free

R-Firewall

Zone Alarm Free Firewall

These two will no longer have the free versions in the near future according to what I have read.

Kerio Free Firewall

Sygate Personal Firewall

Your log appears to be clean. Please advise me of any problems you still have.

Please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
  1. Disable and Enable System Restore. You should disable and enable system restore to make sure there are no infected files found in a restore point.
You can find instructions on how to disable and enable system restore here:
    Windows XP System Restore Guide
  2. Make your Internet Explorer more secure This can be done by following these simple instructions:
    1. From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
    2. Click once on the Security tab
    3. Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
    4. Click once on the Custom Level button.
      • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
      • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
      • Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
      • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
      • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
      • Change the Navigate sub frames across different domains to Prompt
    5. When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
    6. If it asks you if you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
    7. Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
  3. Use IE-SPYAD Install IE SPYAD. Add another level of protection to your Internet Explorer browser by blocking certain sites that are known to contain malware. IE SPYAD puts several thousand sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all. If you happen on a site within its list, they can't hijack you or install anything. Program is free and is updated about once a month. Please follow readme instructions for install; it is a little different. Single user PC use IE Spyad1. Multi user XP PC use IE Spyad2.
  4. Update your Anti Virus Software It is imperative that you update your Anti virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your anti virus software, then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
  5. Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently It is important that you visit Microsoft Windows Update regularly. This will ensure your computer has the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.
  6. You should scan your computer with Spybot S&D on a regular basis just as you would an anti- virus software. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware from Your Computer
  7. You should scan your computer with Ad-Aware as well as Spybot S&D and your anti-virus program on a regular basis. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using Ad-Aware SE to remove Spyware & Hijackers from Your Computer
  8. Install SpywareBlaster SpywareBlaster will add a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs. An article on anti malware products with links for this program and others can be found here:
Computer Safety on line Anti Malware
  9. Use the hosts file: Every version of windows has a hosts file as part of them. In a very basic sense, they are used to locate web pages. We can customize a hosts file so that it blocks certain web pages. However, it can slow down certain computers. This is why using a hosts file is optional. Download mvps hosts file Make sure you read the instructions on how to install the hosts file. There is a good tutorial HERE If you decide to download the hosts file, the slowdown problems can usually be avoided by following these steps:
    1. Click the start button on the task bar at the bottom of your screen
    2. Click run
    3. In the dialog box, type services.msc
    4. hit enter, then locate dns client
    5. Highlight it, then doubleclick it.
    6. On the dropdown box, change the setting from automatic to manual.
    7. Click ok..
  10. Use an alternative instant messenger program.Trillian and Miranda IM These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
  11. Please read Tony Klein's excellent article: How I got Infected in the First Place
  12. Please read Understanding Spyware, Browser Hijackers, and Dialers
  13. Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from HERE
  14. Update all these programs regularly Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
Follow these steps and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically.

Good luck!
