Double click on gmer.exe to run it. It will start running a scan. If it detects rootkit activity, you will receive a prompt to run a full scan. Click Yes.
did you run the full scan? did you receive any prompt?

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

Code: Select all
DirLook::
c:\documents and settings\All Users\Application Data\{83C91755-2546-441D-AC40-9A6B4B860800}
C:\6d7c73ee5a114a3818da18a02674
C:\08a8f798d77c1cd918
c:\documents and settings\Mike\Application Data\BluEdit

Save this as "CFScript.txt", and as Type: All Files (*.*) in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Image

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.

whilst I'm reviewing your returned post can you carry out these scans.
It may take you a little while, not sure of where you are regarding time zones, it's late here so will need to check in with you tomorrow.
There is something I'm not too sure about, can you throw some light on" Application Data\BluEdit" << this folder
my searches are pointing me to a password stealer! I will look a little more, let's see what scans show up.

Download ATF (Atribune Temp File) Cleaner© by Atribune to your desktop.

Double-click ATF Cleaner.exe to open it

Under Main choose:
Windows Temp
Current User Temp
All Users Temp
Cookies
Temporary Internet Files
Prefetch
Java Cache

*The other boxes are optional*
Then click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox:
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

If you use Opera:
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click NO at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

--------------------

As you have malwarebytes on this machine can you update the program and do a full scan for me.

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
  6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  9. Please post this log in your next reply.

Please post:

hope you had a good rest, I'm heading to bed now...

I shut down everything, turned computer back on and shut down all active programs (again!) and then ran GMER again since the last two things you told me to run came up negative. I FINALLY got a + with GMER. It found 4 hidden processes in the "library." Here's the log:

from what I can tell "Bluedit" is most likely malware. I don't see that it is related to any of our other programs. I am resisitng the urge to "send to recycle bin," until you can help me remove it the right way!

Kaspersky scan is running...

Ok, thanks.
I need the kaspersky scan as I may have other deletions I will be able to do it all at the same time.
In addition can you update malwarebytes and post me a report together with above.
Thanks dan :)

Due to a lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
