Hello and welcome to Malware Removal.

My name is peku006 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.
I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

Please observe these rules while we work:

• If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
• Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
• Please continue to respond until I give you the "All Clear"

If you follow these instructions, everything should go smoothly.

1 - Download and Run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.

• Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
• When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
• When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
• Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
• Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
• Then click Finish.

MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.

• If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself.
• Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
• If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.

On the Scanner tab:

• Make sure the "Perform full scan" option is selected.
• Then click on the Scan button.
• If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button
• The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
• When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
• Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.

Back at the main Scanner screen:

• Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
• When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
• The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
• The log can also be found here:
  
  C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
• Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

2 - download and run RSIT

• Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
• Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
• Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
• Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt<- (will be maximized) and info.txt<- (will be minimized)

3 - Status Check

How to Temporarily Disable Anti-virus

Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

2 - Run Hijackthis
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad

3 - Status Check
Please reply with


1. the ComboFix log(C:\ComboFix.txt)
2. a fresh HijackThis log

Something is seriously wrong now. I have to post this via a different computer. On the welcome light blue screen, the name Dan comes up, when I click on this, it says "loading personal settings" like it always does, then it immediately says "login off, saving your settings" and welcome Dan light blue page comes on again. I click on Dan again and and can't even past this screen to boot up. I tried crtl-Alt-delete and it brought up name Dan and password, but I don't know the password/ I tried F8 and ran it on safe mode, nothing, also tried f8 on bootup, "last known safe configuration" and still nothing.

If I can get past this start up light blue screen issue I can continue. Please help because I have important issues business related I need to address via the messed up PC.

By the way, I really appreciate the help.

If you have an original Windows XP CD, you can try this

Start your PC with the XP Setup CD in the drive. When you see the "Press any key to boot from CD..." prompt, do so and let the CD-based boot process begin.

When the Recovery Console option is offered ("Press R to start the Recovery Console"), do so. You may be asked which Windows installation to enter, in which case type the number of the Windows installation you wish to work on (usually "1").

When prompted, enter the Administrator's password for that Windows installation. If you did not set a password just press ENTER

At the command prompt, type
expand d:\i386\userinit.ex_ c:\windows\system32\userinit.exe
Put one space between _ and c:\windows\
(Where d is the CD drive)
ENTER

Type EXIT when done

The PC was taken to my friends, who told me much of the data was corrupted. He is reinstalling the windows and dell cds it came with. I wish to keep this going because I want others to gain insight when they have this problem. When I get the PC back, I will continue. Thanks again
