Trying to Removing RON Tool Globaladsolutions

Unread postby Sherm3501 » January 27th, 2009, 8:35 pm

I started a post a bit earlier and was unable to finish. The problem that I was having was when browsing the internet, ads would keep popping up and bogging down my computer. Since I have started, I got to the point where I was suppose to drag my downloaded Windows SP2 into CombiFix. CombiFix disappeared off my desktop which is where it was stored and I am not having trouble downloading it again. Below is the "hijackthis" log which I just ran from Hijackthis. If there are any other questions I can answer please let me know.

I'm sorry we couldn't help you sooner but as you can see the forums are extremely busy and our volunteer helpers are at full capacity. I'm subscribed to this topic now and will help you with any malware issues you may have, if you still need any assistance.

As it has been a while since you posted last and changes may have been made to your system please run HijackThis again and post a new log in your next reply along with a brief description of how your computer is running.

Are you still having any issues?

Step 1:
  • Run HijackThis
  • Click on the Scan button
  • Put a check beside all of the items listed below (if present):

    O2 - BHO: AOL Toolbar Launcher - {7C554162-8CB7-45A4-B8F4-8EA1C75885F9} - C:\Program Files\AOL\AOL Toolbar 2.0\aoltb.dll (file missing)
    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: AOL Toolbar - {DE9C389F-3316-41A7-809B-AA305ED9D922} - C:\Program Files\AOL\AOL Toolbar 2.0\aoltb.dll (file missing)
    O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe
    O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://bar.mywebsearch.com/menusearch.html?p=ZSzeb029

The following lines are optional to fix:

    O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com
    O15 - Trusted Zone: *.musicmatch.com (HKLM)

  • Close all open windows and browsers/email, etc...
  • Click on the "Fix Checked" button
  • When completed, close the application and Restart your computer.

Step 2:
Run Eset NOD32 Online AntiVirus
http://www.eset.eu/online-scanner
Note: You will need to use Internet Explorer for this scan.
  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
  • Click Start
  • When asked, allow the activex control to install
  • Disable your current Antivirus software. You can usually do this with its Notfication Tray icon near the clock.
  • Click Start
  • Make sure that the option "Remove found threats" is Un-checked, and the option "Scan unwanted applications" is checked
  • Click Scan
  • Wait for the scan to finish
  • Re-enable your Anvirisus software.
  • A logfile is created and located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt. Please include this on your post along with a new HijackThis log and a description of how your computer is running.

I have been trying to follow the instructions given above but continue to get this message "windows has blocked this download because unknown publisher". I have tried turning off my antivirus but it doesn't seem to be working.

Try this scanner, also let me know if you are still having any other issues.

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  1. Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  2. It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  3. When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  4. Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  5. Click on My Computer under Scan.
  6. Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  7. You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As....
  8. Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  9. Please post this log in your next reply.

I am currently on a different computer. After my last post, I had to bring my computer on the road with me so I could correct this problem. Now when I go to power on, my screen goes blank and then it seems to shut down. The only way that I can operate is if I start in Safe Mode. Any Idea why this would happen?

I don't know why that would have happened, have you tried using Last Known Good Configuration:

1: Start your computer.

2: Start to tap almost immediately the F8 button until a boot menu comes up.

3: Use the arrow keys and select Last Known Good Configuration from that menu.

I assume you still have RSIT.exe on your computer from when you were previously being helped here, run it from Normal Mode if you can otherwise from Safe Mode.

Re: Trying to Removing RON Tool Globaladsolutions

I assume you still could not get into Normal Mode when you posted the last log. Have you tried using system restore from Safe Mode?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/304449

There is no malware showing but there are a couple of items that you may like look at;

System drive C: has 2 GB (4%) free of 57 GB
Try to free up some space if you can, remove some old programs or transfer any large data like movies onto CD,DVD,etc.

You seem to have Regcure installed, any potential gain by using automated registry cleaners is tiny compared to the potential for damage that they can cause. Regcure doesn't seem to have a big fan base either. http://www.siteadvisor.com/sites/regcure.com

Anyway let me know how you get on.
