HijackThis log attached

Unread postby gabethegrape » January 27th, 2009, 8:54 pm

Running a Vista with a few problems:

1. Periodically, when typing the letter "s" or "h" a new window appears displaying system information. It happens weather I key it in a word document or in Explorer or Firefox. It goes away after I key "Alt + S".
2. Half my desktop icons just disappeared (i.e. can't see the image, but can see the label).

This all started happening after I installed VMWare and loaded Windows XP. OneCare reported Fearless.exe virus, but then deleted it.

Here is my HijackThis log:

 Well I couldn't be more embarrassed. I have put a reply in to you that was completely meant for someone else.
It's no wonder you can find any of the logs referenced.
I will go through your log and let you know what I find. I will begin by telling you that we are very limited on tools that work on 64 bit systems.
Give me some time to get back to you.

Well as I said the tools we have for a 64 bit machine are extremely limited. We can not even trust HJT to give us a complete and accurate picture.
Although from what I can see it doesn't look like your infected. So there is a very good chance your issue is something else. I am going to admit to you here that I won't be able to help you as I am not familiar with a 64 bit machine or VMware
and there's the possibility of doing something wrong and making things worse. Most people that remove spyware sort of avoid 64 bit machines because of our limitations. Maybe as they become more popular we will have tools to work on them.

One program that works on 64 bit machines for malware is Super Anti Spyware. You can try it if you like.
http://www.superantispyware.com

If I were you I would Google around some and see if I couldn't find a good forum for both 64 bit machines and VMware.
As you said this started when you installed vmware.

I am sorry I couldn't be of more help.
