Google searches return only add sites

The problem: whenever I enter a search in google, I get an entire page with normal looking search result hyperlinks, but the green webpages below the hyperlinks are http://www.addresses.com, http://www.hellolocal.com, http://www.antivirus2009-freescan.com, etc, and the benign looking hyperlink takes me to one of those type sites. It doesn't matter what I type in, and this also happens on yahoo and msn. Interestingly, it doesn't happen on dogpile.com. Also, when i enter a search, I've noticed that in the window at the bottom of the browser where it normally says "waiting for google.com" or "transferring data from google.com" it says "waiting for 7.7.7.0". For some reason this struck my eye. It may be normal but I don't remember it usually saying that. The whole thing also happens when I use internet explorer. Besides that there are no other symptoms, other than earlier in the night any pdf file would cause firefox to freeze, so I updated to Adobe 9 (and then they worked fine). Sorry, difficult to describe, and I'm not exactly a computer expert. Thanks for any help.
