Hi,

I´ve just cleaned up a friends PC with various pieces of software recommended on this site. Please could someone take a look at the HijackThis log file below and let me know whether there is anything nasty still lingering around on the PC.

Thanks,
johnmw

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. I ran HijackThis and got rid of the cste.exe line. I also checked to ensure that no file called cste exists on the PC.

Here is the latest log for you to check if the PC is all clear now.

Ta,
johnmw

C:\WINDOWS\System32\cste.exe

Did you make sure that potentially hidden files were viewable as follows:

Windows XP
1. Click Start.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
4. Select the View Tab.
5. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
6. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
7. Click Yes to confirm.
8. Click OK.

Hi,

Yes I went through this process, checked to find the file manually and then did a search as well just in case. I then changed the setting back again before handed the computer back to its owner. Is this OK?
