Hi Gerry,

What problems are you still having (be specific)?

Run GMER
Please download gmer.zip from Gmer and save it to your desktop.

  1. Right click on gmer.zip and select Extract All....
  2. Click Next on seeing the Welcome to the Compressed (zipped) Folders Extraction Wizard.
  3. Click on the Browse button. Click on Desktop. Then click OK.
  4. Click Next. It will start extracting.
  5. Once done, check (tick) the Show extracted files box and click Finish.
  6. Double click on gmer.exe to run it.
  7. Select the Rootkit tab.
  8. On the right hand side, check all the items to be scanned, but leave Show All box unchecked.
  9. Select all drives that are connected to your system to be scanned.
  10. Click on the Scan button.
  11. When the scan is finished, click Copy to save the scan log to the Windows clipboard.
  12. Open Notepad or a similar text editor.
  13. Paste the clipboard contents into the text editor.
  14. Save the Gmer scan log and post it in your next reply.
  15. Close Gmer.
  16. Open Command Prompt by going to Start > Run and type in cmd. Press Enter.
  17. In Command Prompt, type in net stop gmer. Press Enter.
  18. Type in exit to close Command Prompt.

Note: Do not run any programs while Gmer is running.

Eset Online Scanner

Please go to Eset website to perform an online scan. Please use Internet Explorer as it uses ActiveX.

  1. Check (tick) this box: YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
  2. Click on the Start button next to it.
  3. When prompted to run ActiveX. click Yes.
  4. You will be asked to install an ActiveX. Click Install.
  5. Once installed, the scanner will be initialized.
  6. After the scanner is initialized, click Start.
  7. Uncheck (untick) Remove found threats box.
  8. Check (tick) Scan unwanted applications.
  9. Click on Scan.
  10. It will start scanning. Please be patient.
  11. Once the scan is done, you will find a log in C:\Program Files\esetonlinescanner\log.txt. Please post this log in your next reply.

In your next reply, please include:
  1. Answer my question
  2. GMER log
  3. ESET log
  4. A new HijackThis log

Hi Adam..

My issue with my machine is that it is not consistant. Most of the time it takes about 2 minutes for IE to open, and about 1 time in 10 it opens fine. I ran ESET and it froze up after saying it found 6 viruses...most of the programs you have me run take 2 to 3 times to run and some don't complete at all. ESET produces a debuglog.txt, but not a log.txt...It's just frustrating...

Unread postby Axephilic » January 13th, 2009, 4:06 pm

Hi Gerry,

Fix HijackThis lines

  • Run HijackThis!
  • Click on Do a System Scan only
  • Place a tick next to the following lines:

    O23 - Service: McAfee Application Installer Cleanup (0131771231189985) (0131771231189985mcinstcleanup) - Unknown owner - C:\DOCUME~1\Daddy\LOCALS~1\Temp\013177~1.EXE (file missing)
Close all open windows and click on Fix checked and when you get a popup window click on Yes.

See if you can get one of these to work. Once (if) one of them works, then you don't have to do the other. I just need one log.

Panda Online Scanner
  1. Click here to perform a Panda online scan. Please use Internet Explorer as it requires ActiveX.
  2. Click on Scan your PC now.
  3. A new window will open.
  4. Select your country and type in your email address. You may also optionally choose to receive emails from Panda. If you don't wish to, please select I do not want to receive marketing information from Panda Software and/or its International Representatives where applicable. option.
  5. Click on Free online scan.
  6. You will be prompted to install an ActiveX. Please allow it.
  7. Once installed, it will start downloading the virus definitions. Please be patient. This takes a while.
  8. Once the files are downloaded, it will ask you to select what to scan. Select My Computer.
  9. The scan will start. It takes a while, please be patient.
  10. Once done, click on View Report.
  11. You will be brought to another page. Click on Save Report. Save it to your desktop. Please post this report in your next reply.

Scan with Housecall

Please run a free online virus scan for me. This may take some time but it will help so please be patient, thanks!

  • Click on Scan Now. It's Free!.
  • Check the Yes, I accept the Terms of Use box.
  • Click on the Launch Housecall >> button. Housecall will test your browser to make sure you can run it.
  • Click on the Starting Housecall button under the Using Java-Based Housecall Kernel. Housecall will download all of the needed files
  • When you get a java popup asking Run or Cancel, select Run (this part can take a while).
  • When it finishes that, under the Scan complete computer for malware, grayware and vulnerabilities
  • Click on the Next >> button. It will now scan your whole computer for malware.
  • When it finishes, go to the bottom of the results page and click on Clean. When you get a popup message, click on Ok.
  • Restart your computer and post a new HijackThis log.

In your next reply, please include:
  1. Scan log
  2. A new HijackThis log

Hello,

THREE DAY BUMP!

It has been three days since my last post.
  • Do you still need help with this?
  • Do you need more time?
  • Are you having problems following my instructions?

If after 48 hours you have not replied to this thread, then it will have to be closed!

Re: IE7 opening slowly

Unread postby Axephilic » January 19th, 2009, 10:48 pm

Please open the AVG 8 Control Center, by right clicking on the AVG 8 icon on task bar.
  • Click on Tools.
  • Select Advanced.
  • In the left hand pane, scroll down to "Resident Shield".
  • In the main pane, deselect the option to "Enable Resident Shield."
To re-enable AVG 8, please select "Enable Resident Shield" again.

  1. Double click on OTMoveIt3.exe to run it.
  2. Please copy and paste the following in the Code box into OTMoveIt3 (1).

Warning: Do not type it out to prevent any typo errors and damaging your machine.

    Code: Select all
    :Files
    C:\transferred stuff\Program Files\Common Files\Oem Common\bayesobj.dll
    C:\transferred stuff\Program Files\Oemji\Toolbar\WebPoi.dll
    C:\transferred stuff\Program Files\MySearch
    D:\main docs\Jack and Lauren\Local Settings\Application Data\Wildtangent
    D:\main docs\Jack and Lauren\Local Settings\Temp\CDASilentInstall0501.exe
    :Commands
    [EmptyTemp]
    [Reboot]

Please refer to this image to use OTMoveIt3.

    Image

  3. Click on MoveIt! (2)
  4. Click Exit (3) when done.

Upload a file to VirusTotal

Please visit Virustotal
  • Click the Browse.. button
  • Navigate to the file C:\transferred stuff\main docs\Gerard Durand\Desktop\kmd.exe
  • Click the Open button
  • Click the Send button
  • Copy and paste the results into a new reply in this thread please.
Please repeat that process for the following files:
D:\main docs\Gerard Durand\Desktop\kmd.exe

In your next reply, please include:
  1. OTMoveIt3 log
  2. VirusTotal Results
  3. A new HijackThis log

Any change in how it's running?

Regards,
Adam

Hello,

THREE DAY BUMP!

It has been three days since my last post.
  • Do you still need help with this?
  • Do you need more time?
  • Are you having problems following my instructions?

If after 48 hours you have not replied to this thread, then it will have to be closed!

Regards,
Adam

Due to lack of Response this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
