I use Limewire, lately my computer freezes up and the only way to unfreeze it is to ctrl-alt-delete to end the limewire task. Then the computer unfreezes yet firefox continues to run at huge numbers (40,000-25,000K). Sometimes it is also necessary to end firefox because it is running so slow.
The only way to end limewire completely is to use this method. If you just shutdown using limewire command it just pops up a box that says "limewire is shutting down" and never finishes.

I also run AVG anti-virus and CA firewall. Just recently I got a message on my desktop icon that my firewall is not working, when I click on the icon it says that the firewall is not installed; yet, when I go to my updates it tells me that the firewall is working properly? Does this sound like something bad?

Another thing my daughter uses MySpace, I thought this may also be helpful information.

Hi ford2307

To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.

You will now be presented with a screen similar to the one below:

Image

5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here on your next reply.

IMPORTANT I notice there are signs of one or more P2P (Peer to Peer) File Sharing Programs on your computer.

LimeWire 4.18.8

I'd like you to read the MRU policy for P2P Programs.

Please go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the programs listed above (in red).

Please run a new uninstall list scan when finished and post the log back here.

Due to lack of Response this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
