Protection Software Questions

Very recently I was advised by one of your instructors to Install the following software to protect my Windows XP system:

1. A firewall - I chose Online Armor although I already had Windows Firewall
2. Anti-Malware
3. Win Patrol
4. Spyware Blaster
(I also had Ad-aware and Avast already installed)

I would like someone to guide me with the following concerns:

1. Can Windows Firewall coexist with Online Armor? Should I uninstall Windows Firewall ? (By the way, I'm running behind a router)
2. Which of the above software should I really run? Can Avast coexist with them ?

Please forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong forum but I really did not find a more appropiate one for my questions.

You can only safely use one firewall and one anti-virus on a computer.

• You currently have Online Armor for your firewall.
  
  
  • No additional firewall can be added without possible damage to your system.
  • Windows Firewall cannot be removed; however, it should have automatically been turned off by Online Armor. That's fine.
  • If at any time you should decide to remove Online Armor, you must turn the Windows Firewall back on (In the computer's Control Panel, double-click on the Windows Firewall icon and, on the General tab, change the setting to "On.")
  • Your router provides you with an extra layer of security. That's good.
  
  
• You currently have avast! for your anti-virus program.
  
  
  • avast! will coexist peaceably with your firewall and with various anti-spyware/anti-adware programs as well.
  • Never have more than one anti-virus installed.
  
  
• In addition, you can have any or all of the following anti-malware products installed if you so choose, and that's OK:
  
  
  • Ad-aware
  • MBAM
  • Win Patrol
  • Spyware Blaster

These programs should all get along well together. However, I would not add anything else to the mix. If you want or need further information on any of the above products, it can be obtained at the product's online site.
