Computer infected with Spyware Guard 2008 and Antivirus 360

Unread postby cjchipman » December 24th, 2008, 11:24 am

We have a computer that has picked up the Spyware Guard 2008 virus. While trying to fix this problem we also picked up Antivirus 360. Both programs have basically taken over the computer. The viruses are blocking the computer from going on the internet and pop-ups come out everywhere. They have even now changed the display settings on the computer. How can I rid this computer of these 2 nasty bugs? Is there a way that I can write a malware removal program to disk on another computer and then try to run it on the infected computer? The computer is a HP running on Windows XP Professional.

Thank you for coming to my aid. I can't log in to the internet on with the infected computer in order to download the program as the viruses have blocked me from going on the internet. Is there a way that the program could be downloaded to another computer and then loaded into the infected machine?

Yes, you can download the program from another computer, then transfer it into an infected one via pen drive or usb. please do the following.

1.Please download the self-extracting version of HijackThis from here--Do not run it yet.

2.Please download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here--Do not run it yet

After that, please transfer two programs to the infected computer via pen drive or usb. Now, you are in the infected one, please do the following.

  1. Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  2. Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  3. By default, it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  4. Click on Install.
  5. It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  6. Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis. Please close it.

Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

In the meantime, you should unplug the internet access with the infected computer. Tell me if you still have problems. Good luck!!

Due to lack of response, this topic is now closed.

If you still require help, please open a new thread in the Infected? Virus, malware, adware, ransomware, oh my! forum, include a fresh FRST log, and wait for a new helper.
